It beats me as to why anyone would want to take a picture that has been done thousands of times by others and probably better done.

With this logic no one should ever go to the Grand Canyon, Washington DC, Yosemite, NYC, or just about anywhere with a camera.

I've always thought that there are nuggets of profound philosophy to be found in classic rock songs. Here's a few samples. I invite you to contribute more.

"You can't always get what you want, but if you try sometime, you just might find you get what you need." - The Rolling Stones

"No matter how close to yours another's steps have grown, in the end there is one dance you'll do alone." Jackson Browne

"Get it while you can." Janice Joplin

"If you can't be with the one you love, love the one you're with." Crosby, Stills, and Nash

"No one gets out of here alive." Jim Morrison (a book title, not a lyric).

"Lighten up while you still can, don't even try to understand. Just find a place to make your stand, and take it easy." Jackson Browne

"It's not dark yet, but it's getting there." Bob Dylan

"And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make." The Beatles

"Ah, but I was so much older then, I'm younger than that now." Bob Dylan

"All lies and jests, still a man hears what he wants to hear and disregards the rest." Paul Simon

"When ya ain't got nothin', you got nothin' to lose." Bob Dylan

"All you touch and all you see is all your life will ever be." Pink Floyd

"Don't think it can't happen just because it hasn't happened yet." Jackson Browne

One correction: No one gets here out alive is a lyric from the song Five to One by the Doors. The book title was lifted from that.

Hello. I have just bought this new camera recently.
I am not a photographer and do not have special skills in photography.
But still, in my opinion, the quality of photos of this camera are at low level.
Anybody can advise how to improve the quality. I also think that camera cannot make a good focus.
Maybe I am mistaken.
I have tried to use it in auto mode and also have used some suggestions from internet but still do not believe the quality is good

Without seeing your photos its hard to tell. All I can say is my wife uses one of these cameras and I think the images coming out of that camera mostly stink. We are in the process of seeking a replacement.

That $10 per month is the best bargain out there. And, always up to date...

Thanks. That's the way I'm leaning.

I purchased Luminar 4, which was recently released, and was initially very impressed. The upgrades from Luminar 3 are amazing. In particular, the sky backgrounds are stunning. The attached photo was generated simply by adding one of the sky backgrounds to my pic of a P51 Mustang. The pic was taken at noon under an overcast sky during a recent air show at Dover AFB.

Having said that, it should be noted that Luminar 4 started to crash within two weeks of install on my MacBook Pro. Now, the program crashes on launch every time I try start it. I've reached out to Skylum, the developer, but have not heard back. There are several comments on the developers Community Board complaining about this very issue.

Once Skylum creates a fix for this issue I believe they will have a great product to offer photographers. In the meantime I will go back to Luminar 3.

Sorry for this misfortune. I suffered a ton of crashes with Luminar 3 which has caused me to seek other software for Data Management. Skylum gave me Luminar Flex to placate me which is rock solid as far as I can tell. I'm thinking of getting LR since Luminar Flex acts as a plug-in for it but that $10/month forever still bugs me. Skylum development team needs to step up their game to stay relevant.

I think Luminar's publishers designed the software to work as a plugin for Lightroom, not a replacement. At $69 for an upgrade from Luminar 3, I don't see a whole lot of benefit to buying it. For $120, you get a complete editing an image file management solution, that runs rings around Luminar, and you don't need to be concerned with putting up with upgrade costs with each new release. I would not trade down from Lr/Ps to Luminar. The $50 savings isn't worth it.

But it isn't just $50 savings, its more than that over time. LR costs $120 per year ad infinitum versus $69 for Luminar one time and then your choice if you upgrade from there.

Depends on what you want doesn't it? I agree that LR/PS is probably a better all around solution but that PS does come with a steep, steep learning curve.

It's on my bucket list and I will have the opportunity to drive it next week. I can find little information on line about the route or what to expect this time of the year.

Anyone living in the area that can provide more information?

Thanks,
Ken

We drove this last September, north to south and I agree with other comments here that the best part of the drive is in Mississippi. There are numerous photo opportunities along the way and plenty of pullouts. Cypress Swamp was a particular favorite and there are some waterfalls in Hohenwald, Tenn that require a small hike.

I appreciate the optimism, but I don't see a way towards moderation strictly by abolishing the EC, without which there would never have been a unified US anyway. The only road to moderation, I believe, is to also reject EVERY barrier to third, fourth and fifth parties and to also require a majority for a President to be declared. This would necessitate a run-off system, and would greatly increase the influence of centrist thought, should the two major parties fail to moderate.

Imagine a third party that carried, say, 20% of the e*****rate. That party could demand concessions from either, or both, major parties in exchange for endorsing a candidate in the run-off. Imagine the moderation it would bring if some concessions were committee chairs in the House or Senate..... Imagine concessions on tax or immigration policy, on entitlements, on deficits, or on Military spending....

I kind of agree with this somewhat. To me both parties are pretty much a disaster for different reasons as an example I give you the choice for President we were given in the last e******n. We need something better.

Why should people in sparsely populated rural areas control who gets to be President? Their v**e is more important than the v**e of someone who lives in an urban area? A popular v**e would cause candidates of both parties to campaign everywhere, not just in swing states, because every v**e everywhere would count. A Republican might lose Massachusetts, but any v**es received by him or her from that state would still be important. Likewise a Democrat in Texas. And I think an e******n by popular v**e would help to moderate candidates and might return civil discourse to the e******n.

By civil discourse you mean: "Everyone’s v**e should count the same. End of discussion." ?

Laptops for photo editing have a problem. The tilt of the screen affects the contrast, hue and saturation of the photo. It is almost impossible to duplicate the same angle every time so the results, looking at the same file, vary. The solution is to use a stand alone monitor for photo editing with a laptop.

I will respectfully disagree with this assertion. I have done all of my editing on a laptop (MacBook Pro) and have had none of the issues mentioned.

That's how it works for me also. All photos taken on iPhone automagically are available on my Macbook and iPad once you are connected on the same Wifi.

Very nice shots. I took this drive at the beginning of November and was kind of disappointed with the Arkansas side of the drive. I may have been spoiled by the Blue Ridge Parkway and the Natchez Trace Parkway roads which we did in September which are both quite special. Having said all of this we did spend some time in Beavers Bend State Park which was really nice and in full color at that time of the year.
