I've found REI to have an excellent selection of boots, and superior salespeople who are knowledgeable about getting the right fit. Let them help you. I wouldn't go anywhere else for hiking boots.

I've dealt with Cameta a number of times and received first class service. I bought my last Nikon refurbished body from them, and wouldn't hesitate do it again.

I highly recommend Cameta for Nikon refurbs because they provide an extended warranty (90 days from Nikon +their own warranty for an additional 9 months = 1 year). I wouldn't let the accessories influence your decision much. They are generally not very useful and end up sitting in a drawer.

I'm debating between the Wacom Intuos Art Pen & Touch Tablet Black (CTH490AK) - (Certified Refurbished) at $67 and the Wacom uPTH451 Small Intuos Pro Pen & Touch Tablet (Certified Refurbished) at $165. Is it worth doubling the price to step up to the Pro version?

No, neither paper has been free for quite awhile. We subscribe to both, and believe they are worth it.

The buffer is in your camera, independent of the card. Your manual should tell you your camera's write speed, or you can google it. You should buy cards that match or slightly exceed your camera's write speed, but you gain nothing buying a card with a significantly faster write speed than your camera can handle. You can always put the card in your computer when you have a lot of files to delete.

Assuming you're using a Windows computer, use Windows explorer. Point at the picture preview or icon, but don't open it. On my windows 7 computer, the properties are automatically displayed across the bottom of the screen. If yours are not, right click on the preview and choose properties, then select the Details tab. Scroll down to the Camera section and you will now see data such as the camera and lens used, the shutter speed, aperture setting, etc.

I read that you should remove the battery from the camera and turn of VR on any lens. Dont know why , but thats what I read.

Urban legend. Don't believe everything you read on the internet. Absolutely no reason to do either one.

I’d take the crop body, a versatile zoom, and a quick prime. Lighter weight and less of a pain to tote.

Exactly. That's what I'll be doing this September.

You will love Florenz. It's our favorite place in the world. Hit the museums, of course, and ask your hotel to make reservations for you. David is not worth a long line. It's a very safe city and the food is great just about anywhere. There is a palace (restaurant) on a hill overlooking the city that is worth an evening. You'll need reservations. Have fun.

I can't imagine going to Florence and not seeing David. Get your reservation early. We hired an art student as a guide for the six of us. In addition to making it an unforgettable experience, he handled getting the advance tickets for all of the museums we visited.

If you were to go to the UK and decide to buy a refurbished Nikon came back to the US would that camera be dirty??

No, that would not be a gray market camera because you can document that you were physically there when you bought it and personally brought it into the US. It is gray market when a dealer other than Nikon USA imports it into the US and sells it here.

Refurb does not guarantee it is a U.S. item. Only way to be assured is to either buy New from an authorized dealer OR contact the manufacturer with the camera's serial number. Have called Nikon USA in the past and (although you may have to talk to more than one person) have been able to get info as to it having come through them and the dealer to whom it was delivered.

If you buy from the usual list of highly trusted dealers and they assure you that it is a Nikon USA product, you can be comfortable. Or you can buy your refurb directly from Nikon USA.
