A tripod is a must.....
Only if one absolutely MUST, under every condition, use one.
I do not have one glued to my body. It does not follow me everywhere.

A MUST for some one is not a must for everyone.

MUST use this, must use that, must use arca swiss, must use...
Those are self-inflicted musts.

Going to Iceland, don't forget your tripod! Sure you can go without and shoot handheld. Not great for water and waterfalls. Not great for ice caves and other lowlight subjects. If you are going to Iceland to take photos and you have a tripod why wouldn't you use it.

I'm going to Iceland on a photography trip for 11 days with Natural Habitat. We'll be there in July. I have a Nikon D600 and a D5500. Any suggestions as to lenses I should bring and do I need a tripod?

Thanks

Next Thursday I am taking a quick trip to the tulip festival in Holland, MI. I am trying to get by with the lightest smallest kit. I'll be taking one body, a Canon 90D (crop camera) with an 18-400 f3.5. also planing on a 10-18 f4.5 and a 60 f2 macro. Of course there will be extra batteries and memory cards. No tripod or mono-pod. My question is: am I taking to much?

Perfect! I don’t like to carry much but for a trip like that you have it covered.

Since it is only about a 2 hr drive, I figure on going down there for a day sometime this summer. I would think that there would be plenty of photo ops. I'll have my R5 along with a 15-35, 24-105, and 100-400. Any suggestions from anyone who has been there?
Thanks!

Get the Delkin Black or Sony Tough SD cards. They're much stronger than standard SD cards. They have a one-piece molded case. They're also made out of a higher plastic. They also don't have the write-protect switch or the ribs between the contacts. I use the Delkin Black SD cards. I was especially concerned about UHS-II speed SD cards since they have the extra row of contacts on the back which eliminates more of the casing. The Delkin Black cards are working out great.

Good info, thanks

I try to take the cards out of camera as little as possible. I use Nikons file transfer program and a cable. Still it's good to check the card from time to time.

I fear the cable transfer will causes a bad connector on the camera body. I take my chances with the cards. I have had one split or crack more than once so a card should always be inspected and be removed/replaced with care.

I currently use a Nikon D750 and have been amazed by the photos I get. Recently, I have been presented with the opportunity to upgrade to a Nikon D850. Camera is from the original owner, who is upgrading to mirrorless, like new condition, 2 1/2 years old and 11,014 shots. Comes with original box and everything which came with it. Is this camera worth $2500? Certainly better than $2997 + tax for a new one. I know the choice is mine, just looking for some thoughts here. I do not see mirrorless as an option as I do not want to replace all my lens or have to use an adapter.

Thanks

If it's a USA model and you are saving tax and shipping I would not pay more than $2200.00

Looks like we've got a storm a-brewin'. Not only is Canon coming out with the R3 but I just saw that Nikon is coming out with a Z9. This is going to be fun to watch.

No comparison you either like one or the other. Personally I find all Canon products ugly but envy many photos taken with them.
