I saw two frigate birds in Naples Florida in January. I’m pretty sure they spend most of there time south of the equator. I’ll have to Google swallow tale kites which I think do something similar.
Nice pics and what a view your friend has! Years ago in a soil erosion class we were shown charts that related boulder size to current flow. The bigger the boulders the bigger the water speed. Those are some BIG rocks!
