Perhaps there were some minor photographer's tinkering with the trivial aspects of the image, but not with the important features such as the faces. So, what! I suggest the British press focus more on the many more important matters of the world than trying to play "gotcha" with things that don't matter. And spare me the "righteous indignation" that the media displays with such insignificant things when they regularly distort facts to convey their own political messages and biases.
Perhaps there were some minor photographer's tinke... (show quote)

The "trivial" manipulation that was detected is enough to violate photojournalism ethics. We don't know how much more was done that was more skillful. She might have worked on the faces. If the changes were so trivial, why won't they release the original?

See my previous post.

The first post I replied to said "Leave the woman alone". I interpreted that as the media should leave her alone.

I guess I haven't made myself clear...I COULDN'T CARE LESS WHAT THE MEDIA DOES. It's a nice, innocent (IMO) photo of a MOTHER AND HER CHILDREN and as I have previously stated, I have a great respect for Motherhood.

My opinion is my opinion and your opinion is your opinion. I'm not trying to change yours please stop trying to change mine.

Then who should leave her alone? The whole thread was about the media refusing to publish her photo.

Personally, I could not care less about that. Since I'm a father to 4 and grandfather to 9, I have a great respect for Motherhood. I'll respect your opinion if you respect mine. Leave the woman alone. Do we know who "presented it" to the media?

So the publications should just ditch their ethics rules for her?

Professional photographers edit their photos photography police want to make it a crime

There's no crime involved here. There are publications who want to maintain their photojournalistic ethical rules. Professional photojournalists do have restrictions on how they can edit their photos.

Jokes aside, I believe that Muslims and Orthodox Jews would accept a porcine heart in order to save a life.
My question is, would a vegan accept it as well?

Whether a vegan would accept a pig heart might depend on their motivation for veganism. If it's for the health benefits, probably so. If it's because of a belief that humans have no right to kill other animals for their benefit, probably not.

Curious - How so?

All a film camera really has to do is hold the film flat. A digital camera is a computer to transform the data from the sensor to a photograph. Today's digital cameras have continually gotten better at image quality. My first pro digital camera was a Nikon D1X. I wasn't impressed with the color rendition and had to do a lot of work to improve it in post. Then I got a Nikon D2X and the color was much better out of the camera.

Seems just a little mistake but I would have liked to have seen the unedited one

Y)ou must have missed the post saying people online have identified a dozen discrepancies. It wasn't just a little mistake. There may be more that were done more skillfully. We can't know how much manipulation was done if they won't release the original.

The picture was taken by her husband and she edited it. It was given to the press. She has every right to edit any of the family photos that she wants to. She isn't selling the pictures to the press do they have nothing to say about it. They can either gratefully accept it for their publication or they can be unappreciative and reject it, which appears to be what they did. I feel their rules have become ridiculous as demonstrated by their response to this picture.

But they do have rules against manipulation on photos they print as photojournalism. It's not unappreciative to maintain their rules. They probably should have asked if it had been manipulated if she didn't realize what their rules were. The fact the family won't release the original speaks volumes.

When I studied with Ansel Adams, Ansel said "The image captured by your camera is only the starting point for creating the image that is in your mind" - but what did Ansel know about photography? Ansel didn't really "like" black and white (but for most of his time that was all there was - and he certainly manipulated it - he tried doing with color what he did in black and white - but it just didn't work. Were he alive today he would be using Photoshop to make his images do what he wanted them to - your camera does a huge amount of post processing when it makes a jpeg - if you really want "just what the camera saw" shoot AND print RAW just as the camera saw it - what you will quickly learn is cameras and humans don't see things the same way - and, if you learn how, you can do much better than a camera - which after all is just a box with a hole in it.
When I studied with Ansel Adams, Ansel said "... (show quote)

Ansel Adams was an artist, not a photojournalist.

The lens makes the image.
The camera just records it.

That was much truer with film than it is with digital.

You could make a large plastic placard and hang it around your neck. Add a passport sized photo to make it look realistic. Walk around like you belong there. Security won’t pay you any mind. Personally, I prefer to enjoy the concert!

Do you really think security people can't recognize their venue's or artist's photo passes?

No, seriously. When? 🤣

I was surprised that my son came home from work an hour early last night because I had heard nothing about the time shift. I hope DST doesn't become permanent. It's not healthy. If business wants it, they'll get it, though.

You didn't notice your computer's time changed? Also, my cable box changes automatically.
