I have been working hard and need to take a break. I want to go to Sedona in the next week or so by myself. I have searched for private guides and I have not been successful. I don't want to go on one of the Pink Jeep tours and I don't want to buy 9 seats for privacy because they still travel in groups. I don't want to go on a thrill ride. I want to go an make shots at great locations during both twilights. I've considered renting a jeep but I don't know how safe it would be or if it would be wise. I don't know the area. I have a Tundra TRD Pro and can navigate unimproved roads easily but I don't want to attempt rock climbing. If you have experience or relevant information I would appreciate some input.
I have been working hard and need to take a break.... (show quote)

I live in Prescott, AZ, an hours drive from Sedona. I'd be glad to meet you there and show you the various places where I shoot. I have been shooting in Sedona for the past four years and know the area well. Of course, I would bring my camera to shoot with you. I'm a little surprised that the Grand Canyon hasn't been mentioned as it's only an hours drive north of Sedona and would be on the way to Monument Valley. I would hope you would want to plan a stop there. You might also want to consider driving to Prescott and shooting around Watson Lake since we're so close to Sedona. Just some ideas for you to consider.

This is rodeo weekend in Homestead Florida, a bit south of Miami. Today the temp was about 83, partly cloudy skies, just about perfect weather for a rodeo. This is a professional rodeo with professional cowboys. This is a really hard way to earn a living.

I used a Panasonic GX8 with a 100-400 lens.

Great action shots. Good job. Looks like a good way to break something.

It's tough (for me anyway) to get close to the few Bald Eagles we have here in SE South Dakota.
Nice sunny 45 degree day with no wind. I wasn't in the best spot with the sun but I couldn't move.
Played with some settings on my new Tamron 1500-600 G2. There is a learning curve but what a fun way to learn :)

Very nice sharp images.

Most people go to the beach to shoot the sunrise. But just maybe, there is more going on than the rising sun. Look in the shadows...

To date I've been shy about posting any of my photos, but I'm very pleased with this picture of Mount Whitney that I took last week. Welcome comments as long as they are complimentary-- I can supply all of the needed criticism myself.

Beautiful. Keep up the good work. Next time you post, try saving the picture so it can be downloaded and we can see a larger picture. Welcome to UHH.

After the Navy left a lot of fences and restrictions came down. The picture I posted was taken along the shoreline west of the small boat harbor. Formerly there was a fence but now one can drive right along there, it's like a big parking lot. PS. actually it is a sunrise.

Thank you Mike. I guess I'll have to take a trip back to the Bay Area and check this location out. Again, fantastic capture.

Taken from treasure Island on christmas day morning.

Great capture Mike. Love the sunset against the bridge. I can't quite place where you shot this from on Treasure Island as I have shot the City numerous times from Treasure Island and can't quite get oriented with Treasure Island and this view. I lived in the San Francisco Bay Area for 53 years and used to shoot many G. G. Bridge shots from various places around the City but did not shoot that much from Treasure Island. At lease not the angle shown here. I need to get back there this year. Thank you for a look at the new Bay Bridge.

The new bay bridge looks great, I will post some pictures I took New Year Day soon. The old part of the bridge has some new lighting at night. The on and off ramps are the same.

Thank you for the update.

Thank you so much, glad to bring back memories to you. I don't think much changed except for the skyline, new buildings going up all the time. You live now in so close to all the great NP. I used to go there in my younger days, still miss it.

BTW. How did the Bay Bridge refurb. turn out. I've seen some pictures and it looks nice. Did they keep all the same off ramps as before, etc. I had planned a trip back last year but had some health issues that prohibited me going. Miss the beauty of the Bay Area, don't miss the cost of living.

I took these last month, coming back, just as I entered the bridge I got a flat tire, no stopping, by the time I got off I was riding on the rim. At least I got some nice shots.

I used to live in the Bay Area and would shoot the Golden Gate bridge and surrounding area regularly. These are outstanding images and I especially like the way you framed the bridge in #2. I now live in Prescott, AZ just two hours from the Grand Canyon and one hour from Sedona so I have an abundance of scenic areas to photograph. However, I do miss all the beautiful and iconic photographic opportunities available in the Bay Area and surrounding areas.

Thank you for your posts, it brought back many wonderful memories.

We were coming home from the store and noticed this guy in a tree near our front yard. It is a dreary day, but I ran in and got the camera and got a couple of shots before he flew away.

Nikon D810 with Nikkor 200-500 hand held

Very nice shots. Very sharp for hand held. I especially like the close up of the head. He looks like an old guy.
