Here are a few more of mine for today.........it has been raining, so maybe I'll get to go look for some new ones.

Some of them remind me of underwater scenes.

This was already on the ground being stepped on, when I picked it up and turned it over, I found all this texture and color.

These are super stinky!

Here are a few more this morning. I really enjoy seeing what y'all posted from areas you have been. I'm always amazed at the unique and varied appearance of the mushrooms and fungus. Nature at it's best.

As I’ve said before when moderating other challenges, I’m posting this on Sunday since I am traveling to an area where I only have my cell - and sometimes the internet is down to zero. Please patronize the Sunday challenge before you post anything here! Now, down to business…

Well, the light is different in the sky, the air feels changed, and it’s darker out later in the morning and earlier in the evening. Plants are dying, trees are changing colors, and we’re all putting on more clothes when we venture outside. Autumn is in full swing!

It can be a melancholy time because many of us live like mole-people surrounded by greater darkness and cooler/colder weather which confines us indoors. On the other hand, the season offers a variety of activities and beautiful sights to keep our souls refreshed - outdoors!

One of my favorite activities during Autumn has been mushroom hunting. I know one or two edible kinds, but I have confined myself principally to searching for the cauliflower/sheepshead variety. I tell you, there’s nothing finer than to walk around in a forest in crisp Fall weather and to spot a beautiful cauliflower hiding in a covering of oak leaves!

My biggest triumph ‘shroom-wise was finding one growing around an old oak with a circumference of twelve feet!!! All solid cauliflower around the base! I thought I was seeing things! And this was only about a block or two away from our little Indiana house at Fish Lake. My 90-year old mother had warned me before not to go bringing back any mushrooms since she didn’t feel like cleaning them. Well, when I told her, she smiled and relented and said to bring it. I did, and we ended up with about 40 pounds.

Unfortunately, pictures of it are somewhere in the 200 thousand photos I have taken in the past 20 years and stored someplace I now cannot find. However, I do have some nice ‘shroom photos to start things off!

You found some really wonderful fungus! This is one of my newer hobbies of hiking and searching for fungus to photograph...........as in the past 3 years or so. I'm sure I have several to share from my area of the country.

Yes I am expecting to see a few sea birds this week that are normally only seen on the east coast with the hurricane that just came thru this weekend out there, but mostly I hope anyone that went thru it is safe and all their loved ones are as well

Especially that.

Hope he flies back our way before winter! Probably, like all the flamingos people have seen, it was blown off course by hurricanes that we keep having. Glad you got to see one of my favorite waterbirds!

It does very well here in San Antonio. It freezes back to the ground during some winters, but always comes back faithfully. Does great in the shade and hummers love it. I'm not sure how it would tolerate colder climates, but very popular here.

It grows here in Florida too. I suspect it is a tropical plant.

Some of these may have been posted before. I'm still on the road, so I check in in the mornings. Great photos everyone! I noticed on of my early posts of ssses, it had added an a at the beginning. I'm so sorry for that. But I cannot edit it now. But I really didn't say that.

I have a bit of time this morning, and found more ssses. I'm not home so I have to use what is in my cloud storage. This is a good choice for a theme Leslie. Thanks for all you do for the challenges.

Prawns, peel, deadhead, and put on skewers. If your steak goes on the grill, when it is done, put those prawns on the grill. Watch closely as they cook fast. If you want seasoning, the prawns can be marinated in a weak soy , garlic, and lemon, or lime squeeze in a zip lock before you skewer them. If you like spice, add a bit of chili powder to the marinade. Serve with the steak and sides.
