I broke my Canon Powershot Elph 350 HS point and shoot camera and am looking for a replacement that I can carry anywhere for spontaneous snap shots. I did have problems with handheld night scenes with the elph and would like this feature on the new camera. Any recommendations? I am not married to any particular brand.

Sony RX100 III Pocket size, big sensor! This for photography, your cell phone for snaps.

I feel the urge to purchase another lens. My D7100 and my lenses are listed below this posting I shoot mostly portraits, candids, and sports action shots of my 6 grandchildren, ages 15 to 7. My question to you is, considering what lenses I already have, what lens should I buy next.... and why do you recommend that I buy it? I would purchase Nikon or Tamron, new or used (mint to near mint). Thanks for taking the time to read this post. Thanks!

Tokina 11-16mm I use mine all the time 11-16mm= 16-24mm on DX

"The Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 AT-X is the best ultrawide zoom available for Nikon DX cameras, better than even Nikon's more expensive 12-24mm AF-S DX."

I would buy this one!! http://www.ebay.com/itm/Tokina-AT-X-PRO-DX-II-11-16mm-f-2-8-Lens-for-Nikon-plus-77mm-Tiffen-Haze-Filter-/282341880365?hash=item41bce3322d:g:f-gAAOSwnHZYjQHQ

A 21.1 mega pixel pocket camera with many features found only on full size DSL's. Has pop up viewfinder and flash and a bright f1.8-2.8 Zeiss Vario-Sonnar lens (24-70mm). I purchased new from B&H with a 3 year transferrable warranty in August 2015 (18 months remaining). I bought to take on a cruise but used my full size Nikon instead so it has gone unused. It is in "like new" condition with no problems whatsoever and takes excellent photos.

Comes with original box, battery, charger, Lexar 32GB 400X SD card, an attached after market grip, affixed tempered glass LSD shield, and manual. I have invested over $1100.00 in it. Price is $550 PayPal and includes shipping and insurance costs in contiguous States.

I back-up all my photos on two hard drives. I was thinking about buying one of these to store my backup drives at home. I don't want to use the cloud or place the 2nd drive off-site. I also am not willing to spend a bundle, so what say you? Thanks!
PS. Home depot has this for $124.00

I would not store anything 'in the cloud' even if they paid me!
For a start, I would then only be able to access my data whilst online - and ALL internet connections are unreliable.
Secondly, if the company I chose either went bust or I had a dispute with them I would lose everything. This happened with apple itunes - one of their staff used my debit card details to download music, effectively stealing from me, and when I complained, apple cancelled my account so all the music I had paid for was no longer available to me.
And thirdly, I seriously believe this 'cloud' idea is just a fad anyway and will not last.
Call me what you like but I will never be persuaded to trust anyone else with my personal files.
Oh, and I'm not a conspiracy theorist - I don't believe the government is spying on me but I still don't trust anyone to look after my intellectual property properly. If I lose something I can just blame myself but at least I will take proper care of my own stuff.
Ok, end of rant.

I usually use a tripod for these but thought I'd give hand held a try today.

That's interesting. We still have my wife's FM2N in excellent condition. The lens is stiff, and needs re-greasing, but it's a nice combination as part of the collection. I called one of local stores about getting the lens serviced a couple of days ago!

You can take the lens off and sell the body without it..

"Things are only worth what others will pay for it" and the market is saturated since so many sit around used. On the other hand there are a few Nikon film bodys I know of commanding nice bucks these days. Nikon- FM3A ($350-800) , FM2N ($200-400), F6 ($750-1500) just to name a few. Film is not dead and your Canon could be worth a lot more if you use it or give it to someone who will. As for the 1.4 lens it might have some value on eBay but you have to look it up. If it can be used on digital it should.
