Thanks Dave. I don't know why the ML site I got was old info. I have the 6D which is still under warranty, so I plan on waiting until warranty expires. I'm uncomfortable with the site's last statement about not being responsible for any damage to your camera done by ML. I know it's a standard "release form" type of statement, BUT........

I'm on there, though 12 photos per day makes me chuckle. I don't even upload one per month! 1/month used to be the limit.

One of my shots was used in the front page of their website a couple years ago, and it's been viral around the internet ever since. You can't beat the global reach of Nat Geo.

Is one compensated if NGM uses your photo(s)? Or do you sign an agreement that the posted pics become NGM property?

Finally got it to work. Perhaps setting the camera back to factory default was the key. There were two "default settings", one for custom settings and one for "deleting all camera function settings" or something close to that wording. Did both. Not sure which one made the difference. My default function is normally set to "P".

Thanks for all the support. If I didn't spend so much time on this forum, I might get some shooting done :)

Is there an updated camera model list for ML? I just went to their website and noted a number of Canon DSLRs missing, such as 7D, 6d, 70D.

Another BTW
If you are in AI Servo mode there is no focus confirmation ....whatever button you are using for AF.

Thanks Psergel. I wasn't paying any attention to focus confirmation as no focusing was happening. Pushing the AF-ON several times, plus holding it pressed while pushing the shutter button down only resulted in the shutter button doing the focus. As suggested in above posts, I manually put the lens out of focus so that I could easily see it auto-focusing. I need to reset the camera to factory default and then try again to set the AF-ON as default. Will reply with results as soon as I can. I am anxious to settle this, hoping it's operator error vs a repair job.

So, I was approached (sent an email specifically) from the village clerk in my town who was wondering if I was interested in submitting photos for use on the new village website. Apparently, thy had an IT issue and many photos were lost. In the proposal sent to me, it was clearly outlined as far as a timeline and what photos were needed (within all about two weeks) and that compensation could be requested by me. My only means of income right now is my photography and website business. Four other photographers in the area were asked as well. Would you have required or asked for compensation? Or, would you have willingly given photos that you so painstakingly took to the village for use on their website?
So, I was approached (sent an email specifically) ... (show quote)

Did the proposal mention a "contract"? Just how do they propose you request compensation? If this turns out to be a bid and you win, I would make sure you have a signed contact with compensation shown. I'm not familiar with "you can request compensation" terminology. Is that usage common in the world of professional photography? Just asking, since I am not a pro. May you have success in your endeavor.

Just received this from an email friend.

Pelosium:
A major research institution has just announced the discovery of the densest element yet known to science. The new element has been named Pelosium. Pelosium has one neutron, 12 assistant neutrons, 75 deputy neutrons, and 223 assistant deputy neutrons, giving it an atomic mass of 311.

These particles are held together by dark forces called morons, which are surrounded by vast quantities of lepton-like particles called peons.

The symbol of Pelosium is PU.

Pelosium's mass actually increases over time, as morons randomly interact with various elements in the atmosphere and become assistant deputy neutrons within the Pelosium molecule, leading to the formation of isodopes.

This characteristic of moron-promotion leads some scientists to believe that Pelosium is formed whenever morons reach a certain quantity in voting concentration.

Question: you haven't redefined the function of the AF-ON button, have you? Was your 6D brand new in the box, a demo model, or did you buy it used or refurbished?

Brand new. I have the function selection set to "P". I will reset the camera to factory default and then retry. And no, I have not redefined (at least intentionally) the button.

I just checked the AF-ON button on the back-right of my 6D, and it functioned perfectly. I checked it in aperture priority and manual modes, one-shot focus mode selected.

Ensure your auto focus is enabled. Look through your view finder at an object and twist the manual focus ring on the lens to ensure that object is out of focus, then press the AF-ON button and see if it focuses.

Btw, I have only center point focus enabled on my 6D.

Thanks for responding. I tried the manual out-of-focus as suggested, but no dice. I also have center point focus enabled.

About an hour ago, our snow turned into rain and brought in some House Finches so I took some quick shots and I think this is one of my best.

Nice shot. I also have a 6D, so now I'll need the 150-600. Geez, this forum is causing me big bucks.

I've gotten interested in the back button focus function as described in several posts here. I used the sequence of menu steps for the 6D as described in Canon's online article on the subject. Then, tried to use it. No dice. Pushing the AF-ON button did absolutely nothing. The shutter button continued to do the focus when depressed half way.

Am I missing something? Anyone else have a 6D and set up the back button focus function? I shutter (no pun intended) to think I have to send the body to Canon for this.

Heeeeelp!

I have the Model 9422 as well. To me, it was the rifle I always wanted as a kid, but could not afford it.

These people are not leaders but rather people that have been misplaced in the roles of a leader. Shame on the ones that voted them into the office.

Agree. After I posted I had some doubts about using the term "leaders".

If you remember the verbal exchanges last year, between Senator Barbara Boxer (D) CA and the
Army Brigadier General, when she asked him to call her Senator instead of Ma'am
(because she'd worked so hard to get her title),

I saw the original when it aired on the news. My take was that Barbara "I get no respect" Boxer had not the foggiest idea about military protocol. She was more interested in her grandstanding than what the general had to say. Sadly, we have too many leaders with similar arrogant proclivities.
