I've been getting alternate brands from Amazon for years without problems. Lately, I've been getting Wasabi batteries and chargers.

I just bought a pair of Wasabis and charger from Amazon. I'd heard good things about this brand and when I saw that the cells come from Japan that was the 'tip over' point in my decision. Plus, I got the entire package for about 60-70 percent of what a single Sony branded battery would have cost.

just saying...

Welcome. As you've discovered, this place is a wealth of information.

I hail from same city as you. If you decide to get rid of those lenses I'd like a heads up. Just bought a Sony A6000 and as soon as I know something (duh) I'll prolly start looking for other lenses to use.

That looks fantastic! I can't believe the room around the seats. And the seats look like something from the den of a well equipped home.

Thanks for sharing.

And it's done. Order in to B&H, plus I added the tripod. Ordered extra batteries and charger from Amazon and added a remote for the shutter. I think I'm fixed up.

Best Buy has the a6000 plus 2 lenses, plus bag, plus SD card for $749. The ad appears in todays sale paper. The Sony a5000 is the headline ad, but if you look at the small print under it, it also applies to the Sony a6000. You can also order it from Best Buy online and pick up in store.

I saw this post, got all excited and ran over to Best Buy and got the package. Nice Sony bag, SD card is SanDisk Ultra Plus @48mps so it's a lot slower than the SanDisk Extreme Pro @98mps I had in my shopping cart at B&H. On the way home I thought to myself (after paying $61 in state and local tax) to wonder if I would have had to pay this tax if I'd ordered from B&H. Got home and went through the purchase process with B&H all the way up to the last "order" button. No tax was ever added. So, guess what I'm about to do. Yep, take that sucker back and order from B&H. That $61 can go toward the MeFoto tripod I want.

Wish I'd thought to check before driving across the lake to Best Buy. Duh.

I'm getting the Sony A6000 so don't need a really heavy duty tripod. I'm really liking what I see (and feel) in the MeFoto A1350. Comes with what seems like a nice ball head and feels like a really well made piece of equipment. If you settle for aluminum they are less than $200. Carbon fiber saves 1/2 lb and adds another $150.

Where can I get one for that price, might be interested.

Since I haven't looked at page 2 of this thread someone has prolly already told you...

B&H has the 2-lense package for $746. I have my shopping cart currently filled with this package and a couple of Sandisk Extreme Pro cards and fixing to punch "buy".

Gonna get a couple of Wasabi batteries and external charger from Amazon.

I was born for this retirement job! Only thing I miss from work is the friendships I made. Our office staff does try to get together for brunch/lunch most months so that's a nice way to keep in touch.

Actually, I've been building a cabin since retiring 13 years ago. Have worked harder on it than I can ever remember working for $$.
