Some disreputable dealers will post false feedback in order to look reputable. I've seen it with other no name dealers. I can't say that these particular ones do that, but I would be very wary.

I read somewhere that venders can post false positive feedback on Ebay. In fact, check one or more of the venders listed. Some have well over 100k positive feedback. My question is how do they do that when there is supposed to be an Ebay generated auction # for each new auction? I would think Ebay could control that.

I didn't like the new version of google maps either. Here's a link that allows you to go back to the classic version.

Thanks, Gym. Worked fine!

Is anyone here still able to print a google map? Until recently, I have always used printed google maps for traveling directions. But now, when I log in, the format has been revised and nowhere can I find a "print" function. Using the print function from "file" selection produces scrambled data. Ditto with downloading the map.

Screamin - I've tried looking it up but nowhere can I find mention of the method currently used in France. It consists of a lightweight wire placed in the hole so that when a mole bumbs into it - a circuit is made that explodes a small firecracker (firework)placed next to the wire in the hole. Aboveground is a container with a battery and the switch setter. There is no danger above ground and the explosion is small enough not to be seen or heard above ground but the little blighters sure don't like it - more often than not they are stone cold dead. It may not be nice but it is really effective - I've used it and it works very well.

Sounds interesting, but I live in a State where fire crackers are illegal. I could purchase some in another state, but I'd be committing a crime bringing them into my state.

[quote=jerryc41]I'

I have one of those little boxes that lets me copy protected tapes, but it means I have to wire two machines together and figure how to do it by trial and error.

Jerry, I have a "box" called DIMAX, made in Israel and purchased from an Israeli company and shipped to me. Works great on my machine - I have a Sony VHS to DVD recorder which senses a copy protected video and prevents the copy. The device only requires a cable at each end to hook to the recorder. The DIMAX website lists recorders that it is compatible with, but the list is huge. In other words, most models of most brands are listed. If you want the company's website, I'll send it to you via PM. But all you have to do is type DIMAX in the Google search box to bring it up.

I have a fairly substantial library of classic movies on VHS that I purchased legally and it galled me that the media industry expects me to repurchase these movies to have them on DVD.

Damn mole in my backyard is driving me crazy... Short of hiring someone to trap it, anyone have any solutions ?

I have had the same problem for years - at my previous home (in another region) and my current one. I tried every solution mentioned here except the gasoline one. I had the solar vibrator and various whirligigs. In most cases the moles actually tunneled right up to the device. They must have been curious or got off on the vibrations .

I did have limited success with a smoke bomb called "Smokems". They looked like a stick of dynamite; had a fuse at one end. Insert in a tunnel with the fuse sticking out and seal the tunnel. Light fuse and smoke went all over the place where the moles had exit holes. The yard looked like a volcano was about to erupt. It was actually quite entertaining. Can't find those any more. Guess environmentalists or animal rights groups managed to get them off the market. There was another brand, but was worthless.

Maybe someone can invent a powerful battery with positive and negative probes. Insert one at end of yard and other at opposite side and fry anything underground between the contacts, or maybe it'll just pop the moles out of the ground and you could wackum with a big rubber hammer

Don't think there are any Buicks in Russia either.

I saw a couple of what looked like Saguaro Cactus in the background. Not too many of those in Russia, either.

There is a new federal rule, to enhance snooping on your bank accounts. Banks are now forbidden for a person to deposit cash into someone else's bank account.

I ran into this because I had to deposit $500 into the checking account of a contractor doing building repairs. The bank explained the new rule.

You can only put money in if it leaves a snoopable trail. Such as by using your own check, or a bank cashier's check. Money orders are not allowed.

For many years the banks have been required to do special reports of transactions of cash of $10,000 or more. The new rule applies to ANY dollar amount. For example, you're not allowed to put even $10 cash into someone's account for a wedding gift.

I'm wondering if this relates to a provision in the ACA that lets the Feds levy a 1% tax on ALL financial transactions, both private and commercial. To facilitate said tax (or fee) the Feds are given access to all financial accounts. Undoubtedly, the provision is intended to force all citizens to help fund ACA. I'm not sure when this was to take effect, but I thought it was to be Jan, 2013. Obviously, it has not happened. Perhaps delays due to technical difficulties?

If/when enacted, deposits (incl DDs), withdrawals, transfers between accounts will be taxed. Write a check to pay for your mortgage - 1%, and on and on. I have not seen any coverage about this by the media. It's apparently under the radar screen.

Where did I get this info? Someone who actually read the whole document and referenced the specific page and paragraph sent me a copy. Unfortunately, that was about 18 mos ago and I have lost the reference. The entire 2000+ page document was available on line, but I forgot the specific site.

If this comes to pass, we're all going to pay - whether you're left, liberal, conservative, or right. No discrimination

Tom, I'm at a loss for coming up with a good response. I do think we need to be reminded that, if we don't remember, it can happen again. Yes, I do care. It's also criminal that there are those that deny the holocaust ever happened.

Thanks for posting.
