Go to your highlights slider and move it to the left. It will tone down the whites and perhaps give some detail to your flowers. You might slide your exposure or brightness sliders to the left a bit also.

A question you need to ask yourself is "what is there about these images that will capture the judges attention and give them an 'aha' moment?" Who are the judges? Professional photographers will be looking for things other than a non-photographer will be looking for.

I remember a story about someone posting a lot of copyrighted photos for sale. It went to court. The judge ruled that since the photos had been cropped that they were not original and judged in favor of the person selling the photos.
