Hi fellow Hogs,
My wife and I are going on a trip in April, that is going to take us up the coast highway. Years ago I lived in Santa Barbara but never took Hwy 1 . I am up for suggestions for places to visit and photograph between Solvang and Santa Cruz. Also any suggestions between San Francisco and Salt Lake. We will have around a week to make the trip, unless I can talk the misses into an extra day or ten (haha). Thanks ahead of time for your help!

Try to stop at Zion. One of the best.

Damn, I'm glad I bought Ps CS6 (Win DVD) just before all this Cloud DL craziness. Sure it cost much more back then but at least I own it and can control it.

Also just wait until your bank changes your credit / debut card number and Adobe locks you out. I know a graphic designer who has that problem with Ps CC. Annoying when you are working on an assignment and you did not know your card or bank had a security breach.

Just happened to me, was a minor inconvenience. PS CC gives you almost 60 days before suspension. Several email messages and warnings while using product.

You are absolutely correct - you are printing a developed image according to the settings in your preview. If you are printing on a Windows machine, it will be an 8 bit jpeg, if you are printing on a Mac you have the option of 8 or 16 bit, but your printer driver must support 16 bit.

I am using a Mac with an Epson 3880 printer.

Maybe there is a behind the scenes conversion but I print RAW files from Lightroom frequently.

My photography group is planning a photo trip to Death Valley. The place is huge and I have been looking for a place to start from. Also where to stay. Some will want better accommodations and some lesser. Is there a place that can suit both? All ideas and help are very much appreciated. Also would like to know where to visit for some good views and photography. Thanks.

As far as sites, there are several: Racetrack Playa, The Devil's golf course, Furnace Creek, Zabriskie Point and Panamint Valey. Lightening storms are a plus and full moon is great unless you want Night Skies of Milky Way.

My personal favorite is Zion. There is an excellent photo guide there by the name of Seth Hamel. He does 4 hour tours, AM, sunset and night. He knows all the places to get photos you will be proud of. Very reasonable and able to work with beginners or pros. He is quite unique. Has a website that will explain further. Sethhamel.com

I am interested in photographing the fireworks in NYC on July 4th. I will be coming up from Philly and need some help for locations. I have read that Brooklyn offers the best overall views but hope that someone here has some first-hand knowledge. I am looking for a site that is tripod friendly and relatively unobstructed. I am willing to spend the day to "hold" a spot but am not sure where to start looking.

Thanks
