Don't worry, Vince. I still have the original.

Hi gang,

Any tips on shooting a laser light show, specifically the one at Stone Mountain in Georgia. Ap size? Fast shutter, long shutter, try both?
I will be heading there in a few weeks.

Thanks a bunch.

BEFORE you send a lot of pictures for printing send some test photos to see what they do to them. Indiscriminate cropping is rampant. Is that orange sphere something you sent to the lab?

No, it's the inside of an eyeball

Willie, unfortunately she is of the age when smiling at/with her dad are far and few.

I hope we can smile more often together in the future.

Hey Tx
I'm always lookin at tutorials. I had to laugh at the funhouse pic. My daughter hates me already- i'll have to print that one.

P.S. Again, thanks to everyone who is trying to help

Thanks Captain- I get it now- I was trying different crop sizes in PSE10 and was getting the same results as Patrick. I guess I understand- I'm just going to have to take shots and leave some extra room vertically to take into consideration the different aspect ratio between camera and printing. I also changed my camera from 3:2 to 4:3 and am going to experiment.

So I'm trying to do something that is not mathematically possible, even with all of these fancy computer programs?

I'm 45 years old- geometry was too long ago to remember- but I did graduate with honors from Temple and was a "B" student in medical school. I'm not dumb- just in uncharted waters here.

Thanks, Captain, for trying to get through my dense skull.

Hi Snowbear,

Thanks for spending a Sunday afternoon helping me out. I don't have lightroom. I think part of my problem is is that I should have cropped first then played around second. The other problem is that I'm an idiot.

Hey Patrick,
So if I sent these pics to adorama or wherever to get developed, they would be printed "as is" in those standard sizes without being cropped? If so, that is EXACTLY what I am trying to do with all of my photos (hundreds of them)(although snapfish gives you the option to print in 4x5.3 without losing any photo).
But now I'm FIXATED on trying to figure this out and my family doesn't even recognize me anymore.

So how did you do it??? I appreciate everyone who is taking the time to chime in on this.

So that is one thing that I need to change, Captain. See, I'm always in a rush to start messin' with a pic, and then I crop it. I need to do it the other way around.

Hi MT

I didn't know that I wanted a portrait until about 30 minutes ago when I started messin' with the photo.

Hey gang
I asked this a few days ago and tried all of the responses but I can't figure it out. All of my pictures are cropped to shreds. Is there a way to make, for example this picture, into a 4x6 or 5x7 in PSE10?

Thanks again- the more I learn the worse I get. I think my photos turned out better when I used to just take pictures, get them developed and be done with it

Can you post the original, un-cropped/un-edited version?

yes

I also took a bunch of fireworks pics for the first time last week- which look a lot like yours by the way (very nice). Now what to do with them? On my way home from the Phillies game last night, I stopped in downtown Philly to take a pic of Independence Hall. Now I'm going to play around and try and figure out how to superimpose the fireworks above I.H. Anybody else have any ideas with what fun you can have with shots of fireworks?

John

I wanted to thank you first for such a detailed response- gonna give it a try later today.
BTW, I changed my aspect ration from 4:3 to 3:2. That should at least save me time and headaches for 4x6 prints, correct?
