Four versions. Had a bunch of Car business to do in town today, and some time between appointments. Killing time, drove further than ever before out a road often traveled. Grabbed a burger and Sweet Tea first. had the D3 with old AF Nikkor 80-200 1:2.8. Lunch and look! Always amazes me, even after a long time living in Montana, how frequently you come across a magnificent view without a home in sight.

what is the distant mountain range?

I said sadly. I wish it were not so in TX. I even have had a few friends from there. Most left for various reasons.

check the exodus list from CA; Texas is in the top.

Sadly everything in Texas is an opinion, nothing there seems to be based on facts or reality. Why o why?

And a Californian is saying that?

Thanks very much! What puzzles me is that you almost can't tell when / if wells will be pumping, even those close to each other. Some cranking, some not. With your experience, what's the scoop?

Most of the wells in your area are on pump (not natural flow).
When the pumping unit is not cranking the well is idle. Some wells are low producers and only pump (crank) intermittently.
Many of them have high water cut (%) and move lots of water with little oil.
Hope this answers your question.
Water injection wells generally have no pumping unit, just the wellhead. Many of these might have originally flowed or pumped.
Enjoy your photos of the area.

Woke up this morning to Winter Wonderland Lite, a bit more falling. Won't amount to much, and a week of more seasonable weather will melt it off. Thirteen years ago, this day, or very close, the timber frame of the house had just gone up and we had a blizzard, better than a foot of snow. I had the rare privilege of shovelling the entire first floor of my house. Much prefer this! D750 AF S 24-85 1:3.5 4.5 G

I have really enjoyed your Montana photos. I worked in the oilfields nearby.

Went out looking for these sheep this past weekend. As the "rut" approaches, the rams start to move into ewe territory. Was hoping to get a few photos of the rams "head butting" but when it finally happened they were screened by bare trees...oh well. All these photos were taken across a canyon and approximately 400+ yards away. A fall weekend well spent in the mountains even though it was cool and rainy.

Camera used was a Sony RX10 M3.

Excellent, especially including the photography

EDITED: A suggestion to add a little exposure to give it more punch. I attached a second photo, where I did that, and backed off a little.

English is one of the most difficult languages for those not from the US. We had several foreign exchange students when we had kids at home. Our sentence structure is very difficult from many languages. Some translators do a poor job. Making a derogatory comment or joke about someone not an English speaker is extremely rude and unprofessional.

Who accused the OP of being a foreign immigrant?
Foreign born immigrants--
Yes, English is different from many other languages, and many words have multiple meanings.
Do you believe that Chinese is easy with thousands of characters, instead of on 26?
The language of the USA is English. Immigrants have an obligation to learn English, as millions of others have done in the past.
Our readiness to provide official documents in multiple languages has been a deterrent to the goal of learning English. This is similar to the "War on Poverty" begun in the 1960's, which has made too many dependent on Govt aid. All of these "do-gooder" government programs in the long run accomplish too many negative results, rather than cure the problems,
I am glad that the OP finally told of his difficulty with the tiny cell phone keyboard, I have the same problem. but I thought that the website displayed the message being sent for final review.

original statement--
"I am constantly amazed at the history of America, the people who have come here, those Americans of all races and religions who have helped to build this country into the great country we are known for across the planet. Men and women of all beliefs have joined together to make America what it is today, the country on the planet that offers the most freedom and the most opportunity to do well for you and and your family."

Our former heritage of legal immigrants resulted in greatness.
What will be our legacy of the current tolerated illegal immigration?

This might sound like a stupid question cause it is. I was experimenting shot raw with my new d850. I have switched back to jpeg again. I want shot some her shots but that line in grayed out in the menu selection. I must have something else changed. I could keep trying things to figure it out or I ask here. Help.

The other posts by "starlifter" seemed much more coherent. It is a shame that he/she does not reply to these comments and clarify this confusing post. Perhaps he/she was in a state of "cognitive impairment" when this was written.

Stopped at the Mount Goliath Natural Area, part of the Arapaho & Roosevelt National Forest. A bit late in the season, and dry, but still interesting. superb photos.
I thought that the Bristlecone pines in CA were the oldest but you did say "among".
