My first PC computer that followed my Commodore 64 was the original 444Kh processor IBM PC. When it was about a year old the media on it's gigantic 10Kb Seagate hard drive started to intermittently stop spinning. I found that banging it on its top caused the motor to start spinning again and the computer to function normally until the next stoppage. It was easy to give it a wack because those old PCs had a hinged door on the top that you could lift up to give you internal access. Instead of replacing the hard drive, I told my wife the computer could not be repaired (it actually could) and used that an excuse to buy the parts to build a new Intel 286 processor based computer.

Now here's how this applies to your problem. If you replace the hard drive and that does not solve the problem, you effectively have spent good money after bad. So you have noting to loose by taking a screwdriver and rapping the top of the suspected hard drive sharpley with the handle to see if there is a similar issue. If your computer starts working, you have confirmation that the hard drive is the problem and you save the cost of a new computer. If it does not, you have lost nothing and have more information to assist you in making your decision.

A hard drive should be "rapped" on its solid sides, not the top. Hitting the thin metal cover can damage the heads.

Not all imaging needs to be perfect to have fun or be artistic with it. Sharpness is overrated. Yes. That is my opinion. I certainly know you have yours.

What did I say that lets you think I missed the photo-poster's point?

I was AGREEING with her/him! And YOU seconded what I said!

Down just a little farther you'll see what the OP says and where he got the dongle. The dongle connects to where the power connects on the FireStick, and then it receives the Cat6 cable and it has the same mini USB for power. It's pretty straight forward.

And it's cheaper directly from Amazon vss eBay

Are the Firestick models listed for this adapter currently available or are they discontinued models?

This shot is from a Nikon D7000 with a Minolta lens mounted with an adapter that has a glass element in it. I believe it was a 135mm F/2.8 older Rokkor PF. The adapter was $30..ish.

One person's "image degradation" is another person's "perfectly acceptable" and beautiful!

There's also lens function to consider. I have Canon EF-mount cameras and a bunch of Canon FD-mount lenses. Yes, an adapter with a lens element is not recommended, and removing the element eliminates infinity focus ability.

But I have an FD-mount 500mm mirror lens which, as mirror lenses do, focuses PAST infinity. So it focuses TO infinity quite nicely.

And a macro lens is intended for closeup work, not distance work. So I do macro shooting very nicely with my 50mm macro lens.

You can shoot a lot of subjects without infinity focus!

You should never give up on a peripheral that is "not supported" for Windows 10, without trying Windows 7/8 drivers.

I received a "throwaway" Canon 8800F scanner because the owner assumed it was not usable anymore. I found it works perfectly and beautifully with Canon's Win 7/8 driver and software. Scans paper documents and film, lets me shoot & process film on my collection cameras and have a digital darkroom!

Hi group,
My Internet modem is from the phone company but I used to have one from the CATV company and it works the same. My modem can be used wireless (WIFI) or wired via 4 ethernet ports. My TV stick is a fireTV stick (the newer one with audio adjustment and on/off button). To wire ethernet into the fireTV stick I purchased a "dongle" from eBay (or Amazon) like this one - https://www.ebay.com/itm/Amazon-Ethernet-Adapter-for-all-new-Amazon-Fire-TV-Devices-and-Fire-TV-Stick/333119795268?epid=8023773142&_trkparms=ispr%3D1&hash=item4d8f7cb044:g:24MAAOSwZ2ZeeCxs&enc=AQAEAAACYBPxNw%2BVj6nta7CKEs3N0qX%2Bi5EXdV1E3HbCh%2B9RG94h6K06HXsMmw70kqB73xxaMlfSSt6SDQC0caT%2BsgsQot6GZ4woHU7%2F0F%2FHd65MRvT7JDl5uXwJa2ruwm9VjjPt9H7A9ULX6%2Bk95uRsnnt%2Fh6vIHTWsUzYc5LE8W3KBCtCmzLAjvk5OKxXzAtRtnVXnuHwMmkPqrq5egLigmswN53exHFCNauiIek3YVz%2Fe3hS6ALfUUxpWiCN3Ou6FJLc5xhTovnpKWHMXMnB3%2B2FId1cYgfTqyJMDZKzvXjOWiuK3wv2hQhTd1riE06YxvVppUsM%2FlmzFb7%2FjhqBTY6lf%2B8hL06Pmmeg3915hyscuJC3m6vEdkady%2FSIvvBR6jHEbS6WBohXXY%2BnbsiG75zg7fJBQOdpMwZfeiWoR70M0xNZPigeNFd2%2BS99JqU8ZAR2ojMMnuV2gYv%2FToNwaJUCYZE1TUfWdEBj4ifaW15LyQ0ErYGzBZnK7%2FDxrUz6BhcPcrcnaZDrWJRwqutv8QtU9eXn8rnNdoxvhQa7fs6MhVrxZZ8GD0VoBNIERwOppSTJBNbisu4mw4ImVV1IZjgDj%2FrW34gEVWi41v13DOnYIo60nv%2BLIisB3So9xwfhf0vqPFoX8ezrA9FTf2l6iz1XeJ9T6zuLFD10llzqcvsSzDvaUsk2xQ9kf8nhfa28wq%2FLxqGSBV4oIPGrbiGS%2BSu3kvsbV2cQSqWJ8cXunSp3KrvHfr%2BS5xFrKA%2B6CQlG48Lvxd5PAJrf%2BOyCzh463EDiSvqkD8v9UZfl3ehlubxYe1Luh&checksum=3331197952683bff66f232af42788d8eae6e72ea44d7. To use the dongle, unplug the power supply cord from the "stick," plug the dongle into it, and plug the power supply into the dongle. There is an additional ethernet plugin next to the power port. I had to run a cat5 ethernet cable from the modem to the TV and in my case, it wasn't a big deal but it may not be an option for everyone. It sure fixed my problem. Take care & ...

It's too bad that wired Ethernet ports have been forsaken on so many devices nowadays.....streaming devices (Roku and Amazon), printers, laptop computers.....

Used to be that wireless was what you used if wired was not available or you NEEDED portability. Such is the way of "progress". Or, saving a few cents on manufacturing cost.

Don't waste your time trying to adapt to an EOS EF mount. You'll be much happier with a cheap, all-metal, no-glass adapter to a mirrorless body. You'll need to determine the mount of the lens and the target camera, but if you have the camera body already, the adapter could be $20 or less.

?? The answer to adapting her lenses to her EOS EF mount is to buy a mirrorless camera?

It must be nice to have unlimited money.

External cd/DVD burners are only $25. Just be sure and use "M" disks. Regular CDs won't last.

Good luck finding an M Disk-compatible burner. They are specialized. An ordinary DVD burner won't do them. And one will cost a lot more than $25.00.

And the future compatibility leaves question about whether it is a good choice.

I have an universal lens on Nikon 7100. Not great, buy enough for me . Now I have found it does not focus fast enough or stops focusing. Store repair technician told me it is related to photographed area sharpness -> no. First it took the time longer than normal. Then it stopped focusing at wide setting - I had to zoom a little . After that I found the camera turn to vertical (portrait) does not focus. But the same "zoom" in horizontal (landscape) mode works .
I have cleaned contacts, but it did not help. Before I send it to repair (?) does anyone knows the reason/cure for the problem?

Thank you for the hint Miro

No, a Skype user cannot communicate with a Zoom user, different software and protocol.
All must be using either Skype or Zoom.

Hi:
I have a canon 5D m4, and a 80D. My Question is to gain more reach with my canon 100-400 11 lens would I be better off using my 5D M4 with a 1.4 111 extender or my 80D.

Thanks
Tom

A crop-sensor camera DOES NOT GIVE MORE REACH!!!!! What it does is CROP in-camera the image coming through the lens.

You can do the cropping all by yourself by using a full-frame camera and cropping when viewing and printing.

The cropped portion of the crop-camera image does have to be enlarged more to fill a given print size than the full-frame image does. This is where comparative megapixel counts comes in. That's a whole other discussion.

A business not being listed/rated by BBB does not mean there is something wrong with the business.

People complain about the used dealers for quoting "too low", or for changing a quote after they receive and examine the item (because it does not match what the seller said about it or it does not meet their standards).

If one does not like a quote one gets, check around with other dealers.

A dealer has the right to change their quote. If you don't like the re-quote, just get your item back.

MPB is a good outfit, as is B&H, KEH, and Adorama, that I am familiar with.

All the FUNCTION comparisons I find between Skype and Zoom are for business/group conferencing uses.

I want to know if there is anything to recommend one over the other for HOME AND FAMILY use, just one computer to another. Or is it just personal preference/bias?

And, can a Skype user and a Zoom user communicate with each other?

I do understand that Skype is free only for Skype-to-Skype use. Not the issue here.

I am not interested in responses regarding Microsoft versus not-Microsoft philosophy.
