Practice, practice, practice. Set up some sort of object(fence posts, pop cans, bowling pins) at different distances to the camera with each of them in view. Take copius notes for camera to object distance, shutter speed, F-stop, focal length on the zoom lens, etc. Without the objects moving you will have time to change shutter speeds, f-stops, zooms and take a WHOLE BUNCH of shots. Study them to figure out what look you are looking for. Remember, faster shutter speed means less movement blur, larger aperature (lower f-stop number) means shallower depth of field(DoF), physically the closer you are to the subject, the shallower the DoF, the larger the sensor the shallower the DoF for an equivalent f-stop. Since you don't want to change formats, you can work with the other variables to achieve your goal. I used to drive my wife nuts with the number of pictures I took of pop bottles lined up. There are numerous online charts to tell you numbers of depth of field for different sensors, f-stops, but a picture is worth a thousand words, when you see it in practice you will be able to anticipate what it will look like for the real thing.

You are correct on one point: God loves us no matter how we are dresses. However, one should dress as best they can when going to church to show their love, respect, and admiration for God! The dress in church and other places has not gotten worse because everyone cannot afford a suit. It has changed because people are becoming lazier and lazier and more and more disrespectful of others.

[quote=dcampbell52]Ahh but the inaccuracies are not in the tracking but in the transport/delivery. My......

Touche'. I meant my piece as tongue in cheek. I have had a package sent from Denver to eastern Montana that ended up in Spartanburg, South Carolina and then redirected back to where is was supposed to go. I have had failings with all three of the major carriers and cannot say one is better than another. I will also agree with you about the overpaid and underworked, not just in the USPS but every where in the federal service.

UPS has a much more accurate on-line tracking system.

USPS is the worst!

How can USPS be the worst? They are 100% accurate. Mine always read "IN TRANSIT" until the carrier gets back to the post office in the evening and then it reads "DELIVERED". That has got to be flawless.

There is a bend in the river most guides will have you fish that you HAVE to photograph called Traffic Jamb. I would love to see your interpretation of it. If you go all the way to Sheridan the train station turned restaurant and hotel is beautiful, inside and out. If you get off the highway the Bighorn Mountains will offer lots of scenes.

Keep up the good work, love the Gambel's Quail images, my favorite bird. When I was laid up, I was able to sit on the front porch and watch 3 different family scurrying about their day in the acreage in front of the house.

The CSR+ & CSRB+ are receivers (actually transceivers) made specifically for Paul Buff Alienbees and Other Buff lights. They allow you to control the Modeling Lights as well as the flash output instead of just basic triggering.

Ahh, thank you, I see some homework on my horizon.

Lately there has been a lack of CSR+ or CSRB+ radios on eBay. Every one in a while one comes up, but they're rare, and when they do pop up, they tend to go for almost retail prices. I was hoping someone on the hog had same they were not using and wanted to sell.

But thanks for the heads-up. There are now 2 of them on eBay at this moment.

Sorry for the ignorance but what is CSR+ and CSRB+?

Did you know those round hay bales have been outlawed?

Cattle can't get a square meal from them.

..... I am looking at joining a local photography club to learn more.....

Persevere with what you have right now, join the club and observe, take notes and see what others are using and ask to try them out. You don't need to get them to 'loan' a camera to you for a week or a month but it you get to feel it, touch it, lift it at a club meeting/event, you will be able to see if you would like to investigate that brand/model further.

[quote=Rathyatra]A humorous statement of our new reality !!! It made me smile as I remembered the good old days when a snowman was just a snowman.

8:00 am I made a snowman.

8:10 A feminist passed by and asked me why I didn't make a snow woman.

8:15...

No moral to the story?..!!! I thought this was true that happened to you, except the times were a little accelerated. I could never get a 'snowperson' built in 10 minutes.

I currently own a D7000 with multiple DX and FX glass. I am a amateur, shooting general photos and not trying to become a professional. I am considering upgrading to FX. First I have no problems with my D7000 and can not give a good reason for wanting an FX other then 'want'. Budgets (and my wife) will not allow me to consider a switch to mirrorless or a new FX body! So I began thinking about upgrading to a D600, but then started reading back issue articles on UHH and the web about dust and oil issues on the sensor. With no backup from a Nikon warranty, is this a risky move? Am I asking for potential trouble? Thank you for you input.

You mentioned you have DX AND FX glass so you have a glass base for full frame. If you WANT to go full frame, go full frame and have the flexibility of both formats. Do you research like it sounds like you have done and go for it. You can always resell your acquisition if you find out it is not for you.
