Some of my water on leaf set...
http://www.tamron-usa.com/news/2016/tap-in_console2016.html
B&H sent it along with my 18-400 purchase. It attaches to your lens and connects to PC via USB... with tap-in console software that can be used to update lens firmware and make adjustments to the lens at different focal distances.
Some of the newer Nikon's (e.g. D7200) have focus adjustments you can make for each lens... but for only one focal length and distance.
Along these same lines... regarding focus.
Has anyone used the Tamron Tap-in console to fine tune this lens? I've watched a YouTube using the console for a "non-zoom" lens but haven't heard of anyone using it to tune the 18-400. My "plan" is to use FoCal to determine the numbers and then use the Tap-in console to set the lens adjustments.
I have noticed the focus is a bit off... so thought I'd give this a try. Also, anyone notice difficulty focusing in low light settings?
Thoughts?
I had this same issue even with the Nikon free apps (View Nxi, etc.) on my 4K HP Laptop. I found a tool to hack the resource setting for the app(s) but have to redo it everytime the app is updated. Hopefully the Windows 10 update will take care of this issue. In the mean time... here is the link that has some fixes.

And here is the link to the resouce hacker tool that worked for me:

Change dpiAware from true (or whatever) to false
<dpiAware xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/SMI/2005/WindowsSettings">false</dpiAware>
Good Luck!
I use a 64GB in slot 1 and 128GB in slot 2. Shooting RAW with overflow to slot 2 and video to slot 2. Just started getting into using my D7200 for video.
So my version of NX-i does "Convert to" either JPG, TIFF 16 or TIFF 8. Also saves adjustments in the sidecar nksc file.
What are you using for focus adjustment? Check out the chapter in Steve Perry's book "Secrets To The Nikon Autofocus System"... there is a chapter on Autofocus Fine Tuning. There are several software tools covered in the book.
Thanks for all the feedback! I was leaning towards B&H and looks like the majority agrees.
Happy Shooting!
Hi All
I'm about to purchase the Tamron 18-400 for my Nikon D7200 and am looking for vendor recommendations:
My first choice was B&H
https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1345956-REG/tamron_afb028n_700_18_400mm_f_3_5_6_3_di_ii.html
$649, no sales tax, free shipping
But this Amazon seller, Ritz Camera, also looks like a good bundle:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B074JJHZ67/ref=pe_225770_278008510_em_1p_0_ti
$649, + $46.05 tax, + free prime shipping
I've heard the kudos for B&H but don't know anything about Ritz... or even if the extra items in the bundle are worth paying the extra $46.
Any feedback welcome!
Cheers
Hey @twowindsbear that did work! So these will work in manual only and will need to "move" to focus. I guess the AF in the marketing is a bit misleading. I notice that the tubes only have 7 contacts and my lenses and camera have 8. Would that make a difference?
I received "Kenko Auto Extension Tube Set DG 12mm, 20mm, and 36mm Tubes for Nikon AF Digital and Film Cameras - AEXRUBEDGN" for Christmas and can't get focus on my D7200 with either kit lens: AF-S 18-55mm 1:3.5-5.6 G II or the AF-S 55-300mm 1:4.5-5.6 G ED.
I had AF turned on and no luck. Manual focus didn't work either.
Should I return or is there a setting that I need to enable?

Just a guess... but it might have to do with the line frequency of the house lights.
