Hi All,
I'm a new member just finding your site a little while ago through a Udemy photography course and just wanted to say hello. I'm from Leesburg, Fl. and this time of year in the fall we get some pretty sunsets with the cooler weather moving in. Just wanted to share one that was taken in our backyard. Love sunsets as they change daily are usually very pretty. I'm enjoying the forums, ttyl.

Welcome to our forum. Your sunset is very beautiful!

Remember the bad old days of the Cold War, and USAF ICBM crews on duty 24/7 in missile silos? The two quick shot are part of the Minuteman National Monument outside of Wall, South Dakota. Very interesting museum with mock-ups of the launch control center and living quarters for the crews, plus a theater. The theater was showing period films of the Duck and Cover drill. My wife and I declined to vies, as we both remembered going through DNC drills in grade school in the 50's (like hiding under a plywood school desk would have done any good, but I digress).

15 miles away is the Delta 9 missile silo, now a static display

Earlier this year I had a very lucky experience where I literally drove by an active fox den on my way to get dinner. The den was overloaded with pure young fox action as four hungry fox kits showed me just how playful they are. I made a video of the experience here:

Enjoy!

Great production! I loved the narration, too.

Each year on the second Sunday in September at Dana Point CA there is a Tall ships battle. This photo shows the activity complete with a cannon smoke cloud visible. Please download this one for best detail!

I have lived in New York City long enough to have survived 9/11. I couldn't help but notice how some here posted images of that faithful day as we remember that day. That was 17-years ago, and for many of us it seems like yesterday. Yet, he has been 17 years, In that time we have grown as a nation but nowhere more so then right here in New York. In that time the city has rebuilt and recovered from that devastating time.
This year I would like us all to not only remember that day but celebrate today, and how we have recovered. We must never forget what happened but we must look to the future with hope and pride in ourselves at a nation. To that end I would like to offer the following images for your consideration...

I've passed this by many times without even noticing it. Saw it this morning but no camera. This afternoon went back out and took these shots. Don't know the year but my guess early 1950s.

Wish it could talk! I'd love to hear where it's been.

After six days of rain and little shooting in two weekends Saturday morning was a good makeup day. The clouds were gorgeous and made the images pop. I shot all on 3 shots, +1 0 -1 Iso 100 F8. These were all taken within 15 miles of home. The water shots are at The Big Marsh, Butler county Iowa. Every visit brings about more beauty of nature. I really like the portrait version of the spillway and the flowers. This spillway usually only flows during spring thaw so this was a special treat.

Beautiful group! Thanks for sharing.

I was unaware of the existence of this memorial until now. It is most impressive, and more so that the Russian people would do us such honor. Since childhood and growing up in fear of a thermonuclear war with the then Soviet Union I have maintained the hope that human beings might somehow learn to live on this "pale blue dot" in peace. Millions of Americans and Russians must share that hope. Such a monument is, perhaps, a way of insisting that we and they not abandon it, and urging us to eschew the xenophobic attitudes that characterize so many these days.

Thank you for the info about this memorial. I either wasn't aware of it, or had forgotten about it. I'm quite impressed!

Bought a new pair of Nike tennis shoes but I had to take them back. When the sales clerk asked me why I said "The shoes are fine but for some reason they make my feet hurt when I stand for the national anthem"

This morning I tried for the Grebe's again but they didn't want to cooperate. But this yellow headed black bird did. He was down low in the reeds rooting around but when he came up he gave me a good look showing off his prey. Bad for the Dragon Fly but good for one of his chicks who began yelling once he saw what Dad had to offer.

Hope you enjoy.

Taken with a Canon 5DIV, 600mm + 1.4x (840mm), 1/2000, F/5.6, ISO 800.

Beautiful, tack-sharp image! Thanks for sharing.
