Thanks! My wife spotted the fungus on that particular tree. I didn't see any others, but I have a feeling that it might be pretty common if you were really looking for it.

Looks like you still found some beautiful colors. Your images are very nice! I was there nine years ago, but maybe a week earlier in the season.
Thanks, Dave! Yeah, I think we need to shoot for two weeks earlier next year and hope for one less windstorm...
Well, once again, procrastination strikes... We made it up to Lost Maples this morning. While checking in, we asked the park receptionist about the best trail to photograph autumn colors on the maples and she informed us that they were pretty much done due to a windstorm, but that the red oaks still had some nice colors. We had fun, but as you can see, the only leaves left on the maples were the stubborn ones. Still, it was a great day, and I couldn't be happier with the new D750!
Guess I need to put a mid-November reminder on the 2018 calendar...

Good luck on the trip. Wife and I were out at the Kerrville and Leakey area for several days last week. Didn't make it to Lost Maples, but did make Garner SP. A few colors, but not as much as I had hoped. There is a blog on the Lost Maples website with photos posted about once a week during the fall concerning foliage and the changing colors. This years blog said the weather caused the trees to not have as much color as hoped. Said Lost Maples Trail had the best colors. Looking forward to seeing your photos.

I appreciate the update, whatdat! We'll try to make Lost Maples Trail our priority.

Nice shots! Where is Vanderpool?
Thanks! Vanderpool is about 65 mi NW of San Antonio, and Lost Maples SNA is just a few miles north of Vanderpool.
I got some great shots a few years back going through Beartooth Pass. It is in northern Wyoming near the Montana border. Wherever you go, I'm sure you'll get some great shots -- enjoy the trip!
Great shot! Where was it taken? (I can only assume you weren't in Yakima, WA...)

I'm surprised that a night shot of The Alamo wasn't included.
Just for you, ejones! This is a composite that I did for our band Facebook page last year. (Alamo City Pipes & Drums)
Just a couple of shots in the Lost Maples State Natural Area, Vanderpool, TX.
As of today, I am the proud new owner of a D750, so I plan to head out that way in the next few days! Stay tuned for some "current" photos...

Only due to the walking distance from where we parked. I'm not getting any younger...

Great exposure ,Nice shots. I probably would of went portrait mode for the first 2 pics.
Thanks, tct! Good observation. Thinking back, I should have done that with the cathedral. The reason I shot the statues in landscape was because there was an ugly fence, sidewalk and curb that separated me from the cathedral grounds. Wish I could have gotten on the other side!
Cheers...
Just a few shots taken downtown last night. I took these for a B/W photo challenge, but I definitely prefer the color versions. Enjoy...

The update is a free download...
That's my favorite part! I downloaded it before I posted earlier -- just haven't gotten a chance to try out all the new toys...
I saw those uniforms, and my first thought was that they are surprisingly close in color to a green screen! Could make for some interesting effects if video was edited. Just a bunch of shoes, gloves, and heads running around the field...

This challenge is "Pick your best photos". What I want you to do is to pick out some of your very best photos and post them one or two maximum at a time. I would like you to say something about each picture including why you like the picture and if you wish you can add your settings, filters, etc. to help us understand what you did. Positive critiquing and/or feedback is greatly appreciated. I have been with the UHH for many years and have watched how the original Hoggers have grown in their photography and editing akilla. Also as of the last year or so we have had many new photographers join in and it has been a wonderful complement to the challenges! So pick out some of your best pictures (that is the hardest part) and start posting them to the challenge . Don't forget that Digital Art is photos, abstracts, HDR, etc. Whatever you enjoy doing in photography. Remember it is a good idea to just post one at a time (2 if you wish) so you can comment and we can reply to each picture. And most important...lets have some fun.
The attached is one of my favorite and best photos of birds in flight. I had been practicing panning and deleting a lot of photos. But this one is one of about 6 photos taken in burst mode. I happened to take the photo to the TexNep photography meeting to be critiqued by a couple of professional nature photographers and I got a very good critique which encouraged me to continue photographing birds in flight and nature in general.
Cheers!
