I hope I am not late posting this, I was away for the weekend and only saw the PM this morning. This image was shot from our car windshield driving into Yellowstone from the East Entrance (Cody). Have fun with it, plenty of edits are needed to bring out the full beauty of Yellowstone.

Feel free to download this image to your computer. Then you can edit it any way that you think is an improvement. Composites, black and white conversions, textures, sky swaps, inverted images, solarization, or whatever else you think will improve the photo are acceptable techniques for your edit. When you are finished, post your edit in this thread. Edits will be accepted until 9pm Eastern time on Thursday. No edits will be accepted after that time because we will begin voting then. Thank you for your efforts and your participation.

I usually find these types of images uninteresting. Not this one. I love everything about it. The softness suits this image. The curves, subject placement, and linear white lines in the subject are nice leading lines taking my eyes on a journey from the upper left towards the lower right and off the frame. It works!!!

Nice image. Tough to get the crop right. I will be interested to see how others so it.

I went to Yellowstone twice in the last 5 years. The first time I took one rented lens (Tamron 18-400). The second time I took 3 of my own lenses (16-80, 80-200, and 150-600). I took a ton of images both times and I think most of the Tamron shots were great but I did get better images overall using the 3 lenses. Unfortunately, you need a wide focal range in Yellowstone as you will be taking both landscape (wide angle) and wildlife photos (telephoto and super telephoto). In addition, needing to change from wide-angle to super telephoto can happen very quickly. There were multiple incidents when I was taking a landscape shot when a moose, bear, elk, fox, etc showed up.

I honestly can't tell you which system I would go with next time as both have their advantages and disadvantages. If you are just going as a tourist, I would bring one lens. If you are going as a photographer; planning your shots, spending a lot of time at one location, getting up early and staying late, etc, the 3 lenses would be a better choice.

Have fun and purchase bear spray!!!

Last September I built a high-end gaming computer using the best components at the time. I even forked out an insane amount of money for a GPU which is killing me now because I can purchase the same one at half of what I paid. Anyhow, I was concerned about how my photographs would look on a gaming monitor. As it turns out, I can not tell the difference between my IPS or 1-year-old VA monitor even when looking from the side or comparing colors side by side. If there is a difference, it is minimal. As far as performance, Lightroom, Photoshop, and other post-processing programs run like a dream. I use PS Premiere Elements at times and that is where a 12-core-24 thread processor really shines. Today, you can get a really nice IPS gaming monitor (I assume for laptops also) so it's a moot point. Performance-wise, she will love it. My older computer (2 1/2 years old) was no slouch but at times using Lightroom drove me insane with crashes, etc. I love my new rig.
