Remember when the Segway came out...whole cities were going to be built around it...The R5 should be great but not sure I’d go as far as your statement...

The EOS R5 will change how we think about mirrorless, how we think about photography, how we think about life.

You must not have purchased any CFast cards in the past 4 years...not cheap...

quixdraw wrote:
Cards are pretty cheap nowadays, even big ones. I would no more trust a (once) bad card for important photos than I would ancient film. If you kept the receipt and package guarantee, you might have a chance of replacement. Personally, I wouldn't be likely to bother.

I use the same RRS L bracket on my Canon 1D MkIII as my 1Dx2 and the fit and function is fine on both. But the left side openings are different for the access ports of course.

Thank you CHG_Canon. Just found a couple there for a 1D Mark IV. Reasonable cost to take the risk it'll fit. Not a problem to adapt to Arca-Swiss.

Where are the rent them and try them out responses... Or buy from a place like B&H where they have a good return policy if you are not satisfied. The rest is just talk and opinion...

Fastenal can be a good way to ship large or heavy freight. They use their trucks and distribution network. But you have to drop off and pick up at a store I believe...

We could get into the development costs and volume of sales but I doubt it would change either of our opinions. I guess the real gift is to live in a world with so many choices... Happy shooting!

I'm always glad to be a source of fun. But in reality you couldn't tell the difference in these products here other than lining the OEM pocket with extra cash. Having owned the $79 version, seems to me that the $130 isn't in the quality of the plastic, so not sure why there is such a difference other than a huge profit. It isn't like Canon is making these in the US...

I didn't buy mirrorless for weight or size, I bought it because it's the emerging technology, it fit my needs and it was the right price to enter the FF genre. Canon has a grip for the R, but it's $250. Notably they have one for the new R5 too, but it's $350. The accessory market is sure to beat that price by at least $100. Can't speak to lens hoods but my guess is like anything in the accessory market and a similar pricing differential.

I always laugh when people suggest that huge profits are being made off of OEM grips and long lens replacement hoods.

I also thought one of the advantages of mirrorless was smaller and lighter...

My theory is that the occasional shipper or small volume shipper is subsiding the big shippers with these high rates. Just another way to tip the playing field toward the big businesses.

Grey is the most versatile. You can light it to stay grey or shades of white, remove light to have it go black or gel it to go any other color.

Many reviews of gimbals and related gear at TheDigiralPicture.com. I had a WH200 but switched to Really Right Stuff which I consider more of a system.

A home run is worth more than two doubles. So is a full frame camera.
