As expected. Not a single image to support the delusional claims. Instead of accepting the truth that you and a lot here just do not have a clue on how to properly use a decent PP software. Then these people proceed to lower their standards and rationalize how they do not need them and how awesome their images are. All that without a single proof or evidence to support absurd arguments. Its sad because not only these people do not master the basics of photography but they also turn their backs at learning anything and adopt this silly arrogant attitude.

Again, post these awesome images or just go and hide under the rock you crawl from. You are not qualified to post ANY opinion regarding this craft unless you proof me wrong.

Online sales have always been a sore point for states. They have been working for years to get all sellers to collect the tax.

It really is unfair to the brick and mortar stores in your home state - they are competing with a handicap.

I live near Indianapolis and there are 2 Roberts Camera stores in the Indy area and I do my best to buy from them - I probably buy ¾ of my stuff from them. The only times I don't is if they don't have the product (not likely), I won't be going to Indy for a while (I live a little over an hour away), or there is some deal that it would make no sense for me to buy from them. This recently happened when I bought a Canon Pro 100 from B&H - Roberts didn't have anything close to the B&H deal.

I've taken classes at Roberts and do as much as I can there - all of my cameras and lenses come from them - their prices are almost always the same as B&H, Adorama, etc. and I want them to stay in business. The sales tax thing is real handicap for a business like them (we have a 7% tax here) - they're a great store with great people and provide great service but have to fight the sales tax thing. When a manufacturer (Nikon, Canon, etc) dictates the price then the sales tax is the only differentiator with the price.

The president of France is the first politician to declare the recent attacks as an "act of war". This means WW III, and the opponents are shaping up as the civilized world against an unknown number of fanatic Moslems, most of whom are Arabs in Africa and Asia, possibly as many as 1.2 billion people. Since most of these terrorists are hiding among civilian populations, we are talking about a sort of war that would amount to nothing less than a genocide of enormous proportions. I hope everyone thinks twice about this and focuses on the root causes of the present situation. It is entirely within the realm of logic that world peace would be a much better solution.

They are k*****g people that have done nothing to them so how do you achieve world peace? They h**e us for our lifestyle, so what are you saying is the solution because you just can't announce that we now have world peace?

Edit: I just read more of your responses - never mind, I'm not interested in reading about stuff that will never happen.

Next time you are in trouble or need someone to advocate for you, do it yourself, since you do not trust lawyers.
As in every profession a few bad apples give the profession a bad name. No other profession is as closely regulated as the legal profession. We are assessed hundreds of dollars a year to pay for a staff of lawyers to seek out and prosecute the bad eggs. Do plumbers, electricians, engineers doctors, carpenters or any other profession supervise themselves so closely. A majority of lawyers give hours and hours of their time freely for pro bono work. How does that compare?

I've worked at Hospital for the last 38 years and if you want to discuss regulatory agencies and peer review sometime let me know. "No other profession is as closely regulated as the legal profession" ..... please, spare me.....

"...hundreds of dollars a year...." - Currently going through a "situation" with an MD, initiated internally and I wished it was only costing hundreds of dollars.

I don't have a problem with lawyers, I have a problem with people that use them inappropriately and organizations that cave in to frivolous claims just to minimize PR and cost - thus encouraging more of the same behavior.

Lawyers may have scrutiny and associated costs but I question you assertion that no other profession is as closely regulated.

As for pro bono - that is called uncompensated care in healthcare and the dollar amount is HUGE. I'm not complaining, just pointing out that the legal profession just has a different name for the same thing.

Aside from the build and weatherproofing, has anyone used both the regular and the sport version of the Sigma 150-600 lens? If so, how much practical difference is there in AF speed, IQ etc? I've got a Canon 7DM2 and thinking about renting one of these for a few days.

I asked the same question to a Sigma rep last weekend at an event at Roberts Camera in Indianapolis. He said the same thing that MT Shooter said but he added that he almost always takes the Contemporary lens with him because of the weight difference in the 2 lenses is a greater burden than the very slight difference in quality.

Oh, and I want one - a lot! :)

Every time I go out to the barn my dog 'helps' me open the barn door and he also comes running in to 'help' me close it. He gets all excited when I open and close the barn door - he walks right next to me as I slide it closed - I guess it is his job (in his mind).

90% Where did you get that number?

I was listening to Dana Loesch the other day and she had some data that she got from the Ferguson PD (she has a talk radio show and is sometimes seen on FoxNews and CNN).

According to Gloria Lloyd, a report for Call newspapers (St. Louis area), of the 204 arrested so far, 4 are from Ferguson and 17% are from outside the St. Louis area. So, 4 are from Ferguson - 165 from the St. Louis area, and 31 are from elsewhere.

I don't participate in these L/R arguments with people on the internet - it's pointless - I'm simply replying to a question about data. I don't know where she (Lloyd) got her data - it stretches the imagination a little to think she made it up, though.

I'm sorry things didn't work out for you.

As a local, this is the nature of so many locations these days. Not just the Bay Area. It is important to plan ahead, not just show up and expect everything to be as you want it.

There is plenty of info on the internet that will help forward planning, but forward planning needs to be done. Everywhere.

If something needs a ticket (like Alcatraz) then book in advance. If you want to go to Muir Woods, go early, preferably mid week.

I apologize if this sounds harsh, and I don't mean it to seem unwelcoming, but the gods favor the prepared. Those with reservations do even better.

There is much to enjoy, and much for free, but Mr.Google can be your friend.

Good luck.

Your comments are correct and we did plan all of the other days of our trip well in advance - but we did get to SF earlier on Saturday than we had planned. We actually didn't plan on getting to SF until evening but instead arrived around noon so we attempted to take advantage of the extra time.

Car traffic was bad but the 'human traffic' was as bad or worse. The gridlock at Fisherman's Warf was mostly caused by the huge mass of people and is typical of rude Americans - they didn't care about 'Walk' or 'Wait' lights - you could sit through numerous light cycles and the crowds would just continue flood the streets - "me first" was the prevailing attitude. Not surprised, I see it every day - manners are mostly gone.

You are also correct about most tourist locations these days - plan ahead. My wife was attending a conference in Portland which is why we were on the west coast this time of year. We usually travel in the first half of October - the weather is usually great anywhere in the US (except Glacier NP!) and the crowds are much smaller.

I'll be heading to San Francisco for a couple of days in September, and would like some input as to the not-to-miss photo ops.

I've been there a couple of times, but haven't been for decades (really?! that long?! geez I'm getting less young :-) )

We are driving up from So Cal and want to have a bag full of filled CF cards when we get back (ok, I'll have CF she'll have SD)

Thanks in advance for your help!

I was just there Saturday - OMG. If you are planning on going on a Saturday, don't bother. 1 hour and 40 minutes to go 3 miles (to get to the Golden Gate Bridge) from Lombard street. Muir Woods - no parking/lot was full, Fisherman's Warf - complete gridlock. 1 hour 20 minutes from downtown back to the airport - had a very frustrating day - won't go back.

I sold my D800 a couple of months ago and am very happy with my D810. While I have the Nikon trio of lenses, for a lark, I started walking around with my Nikon 50mm f/1.4. Here is my first outing:

http://travelwp.com/2014-0731-ocean-grove-architecture-page.htm

I shoot both RAW and JPG, but since the jpg's looked pretty good, I didn't bother with the RAW's this time.

I just returned from Oregon/N. California - one of my stops was to photograph some of the giant redwoods and had a lot of trouble with noise (it is kind of dark amongst those mammoths!). I have a D7100.

I clicked your link and I'm pretty impressed with the lack of noise in some of your photos - particularly the 3rd and 6th images - I'm pretty sure I'd have had visible noise in either of those.

I cleaned some of my photos up a little but ....

Just one of those times when I am sooooo tempted to buy a full frame (D810).
