I went out in search of a rainbow and was drenched in rain and hail. The rainbow never appeared but this beautiful pink light illuminated the mountain. Hard to imagine that this is indeed Arizona.

Very cool.... almost an ethereal 'glow'.... I spent a lot of time in Flagstaff in the late 80's & early 90's and saw landscapes like this....

I wanted to get a good moon shot just to see how my 100-400 Mk II with the new Canon 1.4X teleconverter stacks up.

Definitely better than the original 100-400 with my old Sigma teleconverter.

Great detail in the DL....!!!

Great shots reminds me of the parrot roosts in McAllen Tx.

Thanks.... We actually have colonies of green parakeets here in Dallas. They create huge communal nests that look like piles of pick-up-sticks....

Sweet innocent looking tortie, just like our little Kyrie whose goal is to eat everybody's food. She is saving them from over eating.

The grand-kids named her Butterscotch..... I call her Damnit.... :) :)

What do you say when you just had it set in P mode and just pointed and pressed the shutter button?

I can't be the only person who will put on an AF lens and catch snapshots on occasion, not everything needs to have creative control and sometimes the photography is secondary. Of course using a camera with good low light ability, and a good lens should get nicer results than your typical cell phone, even when not putting any effort in.

True.... I normally shoot candid portraits with a 50mm f1.8 because of it's low light capability....

Been there. Done that! Just accept the compliment. A non-photographer often just does not know.

I simply say "thank you" and let it go at that.

Which is pretty much what I did.... You can tell when folks are being snarky..... This lady doesn't have a mean bone in her body....

Without the post I never would have heard the best response to this silly saying about having a good camera.

"It is a good camera. It does everything I tell it to".

I've had a few people say that to me, but I take it as a compliment. You can't get a "really good" picture with a crummy camera. By "really good," I mean good exposure and focus. People who don't know photography assume that all it takes is lots of money to buy a really good camera, and you're all set to go.

Good points.... She did mean well.... I used to shoot with a Nikon L810 which I loved but to be honest I can produce much better photos with my D7100...... When folks ask me for a camera purchase suggestion, if they are at all serious about photography, I recommend a used entry level Nikon or Cannon DSLR.... They can be had for the price of a point and shoot....
