These are quite nice. I'm surprised at the number of blown highlights areas in the second photo.

So I’ve had the Sony RX10iv for over a year now. I’m still very impressed with the reach and sharpness all at f4. I’ve always preferred a small form camera and this camera has at this point completely stopped my G.A.S syndrome to upgrade. With my companion compact cameras the Sony RX100vi , Canon G1X Mark iii and the most used recently Canon G5X the small form factors are indeed satisfying. The compact Canons to me , feel so much better in hand then the RX100vi.
The 3 test photos we’re taken at the same spot. 24mm ( wide ) , 600mm and 1200mm ( using the clear image zoom ). I think it’s impressive. It allows me to easily take the last attached three shots with this lightweight compact zoom camera.

Suzanne, I see a mountain scene with shear cliffs and jagged rocks. Nicely done.

The young lady, Elspeth, turned-up at a 'knights and horses' shoot. Her mount was really quite stunning but rather new to all the charging about in a muddy field and ended-up falling over. Fortunately both horse and rider were fine and stayed until the end of the shoot. I thought Elspeth looked quite mysterious in her hooded cloak, designed to hide her riding helmet. Here, they are composited into a background local to me, Agglestone Rock which lies on a bit of raised ground in the middle of Purbeck's Great Heath, not far from the sea. Your critique is always welcome.

I agree. A pianist has their tuner and technicians who set up and maintain the instrument.

The guitarist is responsible for transporting, tuning, changing strings, etc. It's all up to that one person.

I'm a trained classical guitarist and Renaissance lutenist who had performed recitals, concerts, etc. It is a very personal instrument. When playing the guitarist feels the life flow of the music through the vibrations of the guitar and its contact area of the chest. There is nothing more personal than that sensual experience of feeling the instrument as one plays.

I traveled to Germany twice, in 1983 and 1984. Nikon F and 50mm f/1.4 lens. When needed, I used sneaker zoom for composing.

My son is in the Air Force and stationed in Germany. Pretty excited about visiting him. We are shipping clothes etc to him ahead of time so we won’t be checking baggage. We want to have as little carry-on as possible. So here’s the question.

My wife and I want to travel with one camera and lens each. Both cameras are full frame. We have about every L series lens that Canon makes. I’m thinking the 17-40 and the 24-105 will cover all the architecture and landscape. I don’t know that a wider or longer lens would be helpful.

Anyone been there and know what lenses or focal length you wish you had with you?

I would not dispute that the NRA probably serves a purpose in educating people in gun safety, and that many stupid gun deaths are by people who are not members of the NRA.

But what I find a bit irresponsible is the resistance from the NRA to do something about the gun problem in the US. Yes, there probably is a big mental health issue behind a lot of the senseless violence, but the 3 instances I mentioned are not likely the result of "mental health issues." I see them as "attitude" issues.

I'll bet none of the shootings you mentioned, along with numerous others were committed by members of the NRA.

There are techniques, used during the initial exposure, that will mitigate noise. This eliminates a great deal of the noise at that time.

Full disclosure, the bottom image also had some additional processing in Photoshop, mostly for additional contrast control. I wouldn't hang either picture on my wall but I wanted to see what the new software could do with a high ISO image. This is the highest ISO image I've ever shot. Just wanted to get some memory of Notre Dame while I was there. What do you think?

That would depend on your "vision" of the scene when taking the photograph.

Personally, I'd prefer to see a bit more detail (trees) on the mountainside of the first one.

Film has grain. Digital has, an electrical engineering term, noise. I think this is a negative aspect from the start and unfortunate. For those of us who worked with film, grain at higher ISO settings was part of life. Due to the "bad" connotation, the term noise has numerous processing software companies providing us with ways to mitigate this issue. Like grain, it's simply part of the photographic process.

With the recent update to ACR, Adobe has added an AI Denoise feature. Its easy to use and appears to do a reasonable job. I tried on an obvious noise image shot at ISO 1600 and it worked great.

One negative is that it takes about 15-20 minutes. If you are not using Topaz or some other denoise program, not sure anyone is gonna want to wait that long to process one image. Certainly not me. I'll stick with Topaz.
