Amazing Sony RX10 iv

So I’ve had the Sony RX10iv for over a year now. I’m still very impressed with the reach and sharpness all at f4. I’ve always preferred a small form camera and this camera has at this point completely stopped my G.A.S syndrome to upgrade. With my companion compact cameras the Sony RX100vi , Canon G1X Mark iii and the most used recently Canon G5X the small form factors are indeed satisfying. The compact Canons to me , feel so much better in hand then the RX100vi.
The 3 test photos we’re taken at the same spot. 24mm ( wide ) , 600mm and 1200mm ( using the clear image zoom ). I think it’s impressive. It allows me to easily take the last attached three shots with this lightweight compact zoom camera.

These are quite nice. I'm surprised at the number of blown highlights areas in the second photo.

I had a man with one show up at the senior center photo club show with one last year asking for help learning to use it. I had never seen one, so could only give him a few basics and "read the manual".
Then in August I had some extra "mad money" and an Amazon dealer put them on sale - got one. It is now my "I don't want to carry the camera bag and gear camera." When we go back to the University of Virginia for our daughter's graduation from medical school in May that is what my wife will carry, I plan to take my new Canon RP with 4 of the lightweight lenses. Well, maybe I will go, it depends on if my foot infection heals completely and my bum left knee and leg (pinched sciatic nerve last September-Dr told me that at my age it may never heal completely.) are working right-lots of walking. It is a big campus.
But after that I will get to see Jasmine regularly and take pics of her. She will be doing her Pediatric residency only 49 miles from home. In fact, if she wants it I will give it to her just in case she is still into photography.

It is amazing how good these smaller cameras are and as we age, look more and more appealing. I have an RX100iv and when I tested it against my iPhone 14, decided I liked the phone camera better! The Sony RX10iv sure looks like a winner!

You don't have to "sell" me. I have one and I love it. I also have an A6000 and an RX100 VII. "Cream of the crop".

Fair critique. I’ll have to watch the exposure better. I did shoot ARW ( Sony’s RAW ) .

Unless things have changed a lot since my pediatric residency many, many years ago your daughter may not have much time for photography. But my congratulations to her for choosing such a noble, satisfying, and rewarding profession.

Excellent photos from the Sony RX10IV. I have had similar experiences with my own.

That is what we figure, so since she will only be 49 miles away, my wife already plans on doing her grocery shopping etc. and deliver them/visit. She did it when Jasmine was Pre-Med at UCLA.

I just got an update to WinZip that opened some photos she sent me from Costa Rica. Holy Week in a very religious country, so the people on the Medical Mission got the week off to play tourist. She says she has a lot more for me when she gets home. They get back a two weeks before graduation May 21 then she packs up, and my wife is driving back with her to share the trip. Her residency starts the middle of June.

Maybe tonight or tomorrow I will put up the ones she sent me - her working, jungle, monkey, train/bus??? ride window pics, beach scene and Bio Center Butterfly garden.
