I have used PayPal for about 10 years. Credit card details are verified by them and then you are good to go. They do tie your bank account to your PayPal account if you sell through Ebay because that way you can transfer the money to your bank. The seller does not have access to your details.
I just recently used PayPal's online disputes procedure when a third party seller failed to deliver goods. It worked great money refunded promptly.
I am Scottish/British/European in that order. I am comfortable anywhere but if I am in a European country I tend to emphasise the Scottish bit because I find that I am made more welcome than when they think I am English. Odd that. Scots are more comfortable with the concept of Europe mainly due to having had to live with a domineering neighbour, much like the Welsh and Irish.
I hope that Scotland remains part of the UK because we are stronger together.
Wow!!! The depth of feeling exhibited in the US political debate never ceases to amaze me. You just don't get that level of engagement in the political process over here. I love the US and spend a lot of time there. You have some very deep rooted problems that need to be addressed, but y'all are well aware of that. I never take the liberty of expressing an opinion on your choice of leader. Although your choice has a profound effect upon the rest of the world as he is effectively the leader of the free world. Still I just don't feel right expressing a view. It is the greatest nation on earth and can rise again but it needs someone who can unite it. I hope that is what happens.

I love New York and try to spend some time there every year. Watched the storm with absolute horror and feel for those who have suffered such losses. My wife and I are due to visit in early December staying in a Midtown hotel. No thoughts about cancelling. Will certainly avoid getting in the way of the clean-up effort but I assume the city will not want to be abandoned by it's visitors.

I believe that the tax take per gallon is somewhere around 60%!
I know that it won't help but like altheman in NZ you should try living with our prices here in the UK. Currently in the region of £6.52 per gallon means we are paying the equivolent of about $US10.45. :-(
