The first shot is the D300s since there is more detail visible in the boathouse rafters. I also have that body and a D700 as well and have decided to keep both rather than upgrade to a D800 or D810. Your "test" has confirmed my decision.

I am using D300s and D700 bodies. Both have 2 rear buttons, one for for AE-L/AF-L and one for AF-On. I have 4 custom setups in each body as follows, portrait, landscape, candid and action. For the first 3 the shutter button focus is inactive. It is active for my action shots. The advantage is that I can take numerous shots without the bodies hunting for focus every time not only annoying but unnecessary. The AF-On button is easily accessed by my thumb and I can't even think of focussing any other way.

I am currently using both a D300s and a D700. Thinking of trading in on a D800 (not 800e) at either B&H or Adorama. I think a used D800 is a better value than a new D750. I do not shoot video. www.fotomacher.ca

I have just become aware of a dealer called CVVMERCHANT.NET They have prices that look too good to be true. I spoke with the owner on the phone yesterday and he seemed credible, but I still have concerns because I am sceptical sort of guy. If it is a real place I am going to sell my D300s and D700 bodies and get a D800e. Thanks UHH people.

I have reviewed the spec's and first impressions of the NEW D750. Presently, I am shooting with a D700 and D300s and a camera bag full of FX Nikkor glass. I have no problem printing (and selling) up to 20"x30". THe D750 does not seem like a "pro body" to be used as the primary imaging tool. Although the AF-L/AE-L button can be reprogrammed to function as the AF button, the fact that Nikon stripped it down is not impressive. I do not like the dual function buttons for access to ISO/WB/QUAL since I use the ISO and WB all the time. I am also wondering how such a light body handles with heavy glass like the 70-200 or 80-400. I guess it also matters that I don't shoot sports or video.

My thought today, is to hold out for a while and wait for a refurb D810 or if I score a ton of sales, a D4s.

Any comments from the UHH community?

One more reason to not buy grey: Nikon USA will not supply parts to independent repair shops so parts have to be ordered from abroad. Result is a significant delay in getting your lens back. Except B&H and Adorama who are big enough to carry a parts inventory.

Any one have experience with this software and can provide comments? Many thanks. I am using PSE10 and LR4. Yes I know I should upgrade both, but it need some more sales to pay for them......

I was on a photo trip recently with other photogs. Some had Canon bodies and some had Olympus OM-D bodies and the remainder were Nikon shooters. The Canon and Olympus users were able to use LV and then vary exposure in real time to see the effect. On the OM-D the histogram was real time feedback. I had to take a shot to evaluate. We were shooting sunrises and I am using D300s and D700 bodies. My question is: do any of the new Nikon bodies allow real time feedback using LV? Thanks.

I typically shoot only RAW (Nikon NEF) but I expose using the histogram and not the monitor screen on the body. My main subjects are Scenics and Landscapes. I expose "to the right" so that the image appears somewhat overexposed when viewed, however I take care to control blowing out the lighter areas. This helps me preserve data so that processing will render an image with as much detail as possible especially in the darker areas of the image.

I have both of these lenses as well as a 50mm f1.4, 17-35 f2.8 and a 28-300 f3.5-f5.6. I am soothing with D300s and D700 bodies. I can tell you that each lens/body combination is discrete and used in specific situations. The answer to the question posed can only answered by knowing what the expected subject(s) will be. Ultimately the answer will be "both".
