Don't expect any Leica thread mount lens to work with the rangefinder. Gotta use the Russian lenses.

The last is likely an extension tube with T-mount female on one end and male on the other. I have an ancient Sun/Spiratone zoom with a handgrip-trigger to stop it down that uses the same configuration for a 2x teleconverter. Spiratone was famous for T-mount stuff.

I'm surprised there isn't a Kickstarter to reproduce my zoom and charge $1,200 for that uncorrected vintage look!

Sometimes part if the file name needs to be restored. For example house1.jpg may show up as -ouse1.jpg. Try renaming one.

If it is a brand-name card, Sandisk, etc, they often have free recovery tools on their site.

The vast majority of people with cameras have always used box cameras, Instamatics, 35mm point and shoots and now, after a brief flirtation with digital compacts, ...smartphone cameras. Snapshooters were the backbone of film and processing revenue. Now the industry pushs smartphones because the user needs a "data plan" to get photos from A to B.

The kind of people who take the time to learn photography are a decidedly dedicated minority in digital or chemical work.

When I first became interested in photography there was nothing but wet plates, back then you learned quickly to do a better job of taking your shots because your glass plates to be developed needed lots of poison...good or bad before they dried. That made me a lot more careful about how i composed my shots. I remember when "film" cameras first came out and the comment that a professional photographer made that "film" was kind of like cheating and the more i think about it the more i agree with him. ;)

OK, just showing. And how concerned are you about getting your photos lifted off and used elsewhere? A question I would have is what protection do you have on free sites? Are you watermarking your photos in any way?

Let me back up. Are you looking to show your photos or sell them? That will determine a lot with how web pages are structured.

There is a pretty good website builder call Antenna. It has a gallery template, etc. The advantage of having your own software is that you can take it and your files with you if you decide to go to another provider. Some that are built-in may not transfer well.

Doing HTML from scratch is fine, just as setting exposure and focus on a camera is fine or loading 4x5 film holders. But its not for everyone.

I have used the for-pay site service iPowerweb for 10 years. I think I pay $125 for three years, and there are deals for new customers. Plenty of online tools there to do what you want. Free is free, but you get what you pay for. Of course, you will need to get the word out that your site exists. You also retain the rights to whatever you put up...it's your site, not somebody else's with fine print in the user agreement.

"The Swirling Bokeh"... didn't that group have a bit hit in the '60's?

I view with some amusement the reincarnation of "classic" lenses at astronomical prices.

Is the "new" 58mm f/2 Biotar substantially better than the 58mm f/2 Helios, made on machines "liberated" from Dresden in 1945 by the Soviets? (These lenses litter eBay, all from long-dead Zenit E cameras.)

Is my vintage 85mm 2.8 Jena Tessar (pre-set) now a classic?

Will "new" Triotars be any better than the old East German Triotar triplets we sold used cheap in the 70's?

Here is sample text from the pitch for the 75mm Biotar:

"Its sharpness at the center in conjunction with a dramatic swirl bokeh is legendary. At open aperture the Biotar 75 is as sharp as can be in the center of the image and it renders the famous and sought after swirling bokeh to the side. The image gets an almost three dimensional complexion with the object stepping out in front of the viewer."

You comments, please.
