Well, here's one example quickly found concerning the method used to calculate unemployment:

"Citing what it calls "an unprecedented rise" in long-term unemployment, the federal Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), beginning Saturday, will raise from two years to five years the upper limit on how long someone can be listed as having been jobless." Note this occurred in 2010.

Am I a r****t since I found proof that our statement was incorrect?

PROVE I'm a liar. I have not uttered one lie on this board. Words are cheap. FACTS are priceless.

If all you have to rebut an idea with is an ad hominem attack, you lost the race before you got out of the gate.

The true r****ts are those who see skin color in every argument and disagreement.......that would make YOU the r****t!

If you want to truly understand the employment situation you need to look at two things: first, the workforce participation rate, and second, the percent of jobs that are part-time. It is certainly not r****t to point out both are currently dismal.

I, okay actual we, the Little People and me, received such wonderful feedback for our efforts for National Doughnut Day, that I first want to thank you all.

But, I was afraid that some of you, might decide to work with Little People, and I feel I must warn you. They have limited integrity!!

Who knew, there isn't a National Boats and Bourbon Day? I do now!! Seems it was only an excuse to drink my bourbon!!!

Please, be careful with these little SOBs, they will lead one astray!

Imagine this situation. You're in bed asleep at 3:00 AM when you hear noise downstairs. You pick up your shotgun and walk quietly down the stairs. You see a burglar going through drawers and cabinets. He hears you approach and starts walking toward you. You immediately fire your shotgun at him, but he keeps coming. You fire another shot, and it passes right through him. Scary, but unlikely.

What's even worse is the situation with the drugs that doctors are firing at germs. Germs have adapted and become resistant to just about everything we can throw at them. Penicillin used to be a wonder drug, able to cure just about anything. Not any more. Diseases have killed billions of people, and we have struggled to stay one step ahead of them. If we cannot find a way to deal with these superbugs, we'll be in big trouble.

When my wife was in the hospital a few years ago, I went for a visit and was told that she had contracted MRSA. I knew enough about that to be concerned. They said it was nothing to worry about and that many people contracted that in hospitals. Still, every person who entered her room had to put on a gown, gloves, and a mask. Before leaving, we had to remove everything and place it in a special receptacle and disinfect our hands. Although this was routine for the hospital staff, it was scary to me.

An online article about drug-resistant germs is what prompted me to post this.

To add to the scariness, the world's drug companies don't really work on developing new ones because the economics aren't there.

Yesterday I took two sequential shots,JPEGs, of a surf shack being rebuilt after last winter's storms and the EXIF data shows the exact same information for both: Nikon D610, 28-300 lens @ 55mm, aperature priority f/8, 1/3000 sec, ISO 800, EV=0 with auto WB. As one can see, the two exposures look quite different, the #1 being much lighter than the #2. The histograms do show a difference also where #1 is more ETTR than the #2. My question is: does anyone have any ideas what may have caused this? Thanks in advance for any help with this.

River Terns, like those I posted yesterday are relatively slow moving birds compared to the Little Green Bee Eater. A few action images. Speaks volumes about the fast focus acquisition capability of the D500.

Yes, $15.00 per hour is better. Who wouldn't want a pay raise? But sooner or later, they will all want a pay raise to $20.00+ per hour, and then the same pay as diesel mechanics, nurses, plumbers, teachers, carpenters, and computer programmers. You want more money, learn a skilled trade. I worked minimum wage part time a long time ago, during and after High School like millions did, in a fast food facility. It was not suppose to be a lifetime job for me. It's not intended to raise an entire family on.

i never did nor did i want want back 60's 70's. an if a job you wanted didn't pay eough. we didn't take it, till wages went up. then more likely they would contact you, with what you asked for. today with corporations wanting more illegals to flow in, it ba a forever to be able to see that happen again.

really don't believe actually see what is taking place these days at all.

Ah, you describe a free market when you were young, but now you want the government to control it. That makes you an absolute hypocrite, Red Dirt. I see clearly.........progressives like yourself are ruining things with your corporation derangement syndrome!

We agree that the tide of illegal immigrants needs to be stopped, they cannot ever be allowed to vote, and their access to our social networks s/b zip.

Again.....As usual, Red Dirt can't read a simple sentence or interpret it's thoughts. You are a very sad case------ yet another mindless progressive with no independent thought process.

Can't make thus stuff up!

How about if you get real, Red Dirt? If socialism is so nice, why don't you take the family down to, say, Venezuela?????

Another newsflash........Walmart jobs will begin to disappear (they already have started). Robotics will take away close to 90% of them before long (try and get a tour through one of their warehouses/fulfillment centers). Also, the use of "greeters" is strictly a social thing, and it is in the way out.

I fact, I now agree with you.........people shouldn't have to take such crap jobs so I encourage the march toward human replacement! Then the progressive wackyadoodles like you will finally be happy?

A 3% ROS has nothing to do with the class warfare you are pushing. It's the result of all expenses, including taxes. Two people working and making $25,000 per year should be able to make it. Of course, it won't include full cable, a smartphone, a new PC every two years, a/c, clubbing, et.al.

Try looking at the definition of poverty in, say 1972 versus today.

Do not go on a rant thinking people shouldn't have these things, by the way...........just saying a minimum wage job was NEVER intended to pay for all of it.

but lot of employers thinks so.

I would guess that most, if not all, non-government employers understand that the minimum wage is not designed to raise a family on. They also are acutely aware that it is not their role to save the world or bail out the morons people like you are electing to office!
