Awesome shots! I am also blessed to be able to watch 3 eaglet chicks in a nest not to far from my house!

Great shots Cindy. We had a set of triplets this year too. Your vantage point is much better than ours for sure. Our eagles usually are buried below the canopy of the pines. Keep the progress shots coming.
They grow fast. Great job!!
Mike

Thanks Mike...This is the 2nd year I have been able to watch this nest but it's the first year with a dslr camera and a good lens to get good shots of them. It's only a 30 minute walk from my house...I will be walking down each week and will post updates!

We actually have triplets! They are quite a bit bigger than last week.

Nikon D5300 with the Tamron 150-600 mm -- cropped and edited a little in LR.

I really like the pictures. But you didn't have to send all that rain to the east coast.

I like the compositions. Did you use a tripod? I think maybe a slower shutter speed would have helped. Perhaps a higher iso?

No tripod since we were on the boat...and I used aperture priority, f11 and iso 100 for the 1st two and f8 iso 100 for the other two. I am a beginner just learning this dslr and trying to understand how all settings fit together.

May I ask...what would a higher iso have done? would that give me a better dof with the same F stops?

If you use Windows, you can right click on the picture in your file, (not oppened) and click on properties then click on detail and it will show, time, date, ISO, shutter speed, F stop and lens setting. If you have Apple I can not help. You can PM me if I can help with anything. David

David - thanks for the offer. I am an IT tech ...so hopefully I am familiar with some of that stuff....lol

Took the day off work to go play on the water...it's been so rainy and blah around here lately. I think I am getting better at DOF and composition...tell me what ya all think of these ones.

Cindy, what an exciting photo opportunity. Great capture of the 2 chicks. Have fun capturing the as they grow.

It's going to be fun watching them grow! Plus the nest is only about a 30 minute walk from my house...easy to get to!

Walked down to the eagles nest tonight and we have 2 chicks in the nest. Also got my new Tamron 150-600 lens...first time out with that as well. Still need to learn to get it focused a little better but I was so excited to see the chicks!

Last year I spent 3 full days horse back riding in Utah. The dessert, the plains then the mountains. I took a 18-55mm and it worked perfectly. It got most shots right, which are landscapes and a good job up close. It was easy to manage on the horse but I took a belly bag and put the camera in it when I wasn't taking pictures like during showers in the mountains. You can also include a few accessories like lip ice or Aleve for the old posterior after the second full day.

What a fun trip that would be. This old posterior is used to the saddle sores...lol We did a 10 day 80 mile round trip thru the Bob Marshall wilderness -- now that made my back side a little sore!
