Interesting test results. When I use the
canon eos utility the CR files appear. When I open the DCIM folder using windows file explorer they aren't. Who knows?

Yes. that's how I learned they were missing. Now today the camera worked fine.

I did a shoot this weekend and for some reason the pics were saved only as jpeg, not the raw+jpeg that I had things set for.

The possible error may have happened when I was shooting video and snapping stills along the way.

I got home and downloaded everything to find that only jpegs were saved.

When I got home and found the files were all jpeg only I tried shooting some frames (and I could see the setting was for Raw + jpeg) and it was only saving in jpeg. Then I connected to my laptop to see if that would make a difference. Everything was working. after that the camera was behaving normally.

Any similar experiences? Im baffled, but def not going to use the video when doing anything important.

Will also take the laptop along on assignments so I can check on the spot.

In its original size it would be 86" wide. I'll load this again in the smaller file I use for sharing.

First built the pano then copied in two shots of Sam when he was leaving.

Next weekend will be fun here in Southern Illinois. My friend Sam runs the Big Muddy Air Race on Saturday.

Having tuned up my PS skills, I spent a morning with him getting ready to do a panorama that will have all 25 planes in the frame. If you are in the area give me a shout. Visitors welcome.

Look for bigger birds?

I like the PC connection. That way the tripod can be lower and more stable. Saves eyes and neck strain. Good suggestion. Are you doing practice shots ? Not something you want to wait till the last minute. Looking forward to seeing the results.

Here's my rig: 100-400 zoom. Will also try with 2x TC. I used silicone adhesive to secure the filter to the lens hood. The duct tape is backup. Tried a couple frames this morning. Looks like camera shake will be the big issue. I had to bump the iso quite a bit to get shutter speed to where it would minimize shakes.

The eclipse will be here (southern IL) from 11:52 - 2:47 with totality about 1:21. Going to be lots of stiff necks. Wonder if I can stretch my tripod over my hammock?

I picked up a TYCKA shoulder sling. Working pretty slick. found it on Amazon. Camera hangs against my hip when not in hand. Out of the way until I need it.
