I drove through this town in the 90's. If I ever wanted to live in England, I would choose this town. Wonderful photos of a beautiful place.

Have you had experience with these batteries? I use them in my back-up camera, a CanonSX150is. No other types of AA's would last more than a handful of shots. I am wondering if that added voltage level of these batteries, at 1.7 volts, has caused any problems with those having used them in other cameras. I am amazed at the performance I get from the NiZn's. If there is a feature that may trouble any user, it might be the sudden drop in voltage when recharging is required. There is no forewarning of this happening as might occur with NiMh batteries. Like to hear some comments.

Interesting, what filter did you use?

Just a UV filter. The rest was mainly fiddling with contrast and light values.

Could the image of a flower be more artistic if one converted it to B&W or is it just wrong? I used my Sony A57 with Takumar 50mm f1.4 SMC for this shot.

This is the second year that this beautiful bird has visited our yard. He had his olive colored female with him this time but I had no opportunity to photograph her.

I've never heard of that lens, Streets, but you shown that in the right hands, it's a winner. Beautiful shot of this daylily.

The lens was the standard lens that came with the Asahi Pentax Spotmatic cameras which were made until 1976. It was the last of the M42 screw mount Pentax cameras that were superseded by the K series. It is still a favorite among many of today's photographers. Many adapters are available for just about all of the name brand digital cameras in use today. There are many fine lenses by Asahi, Zeiss, etc. that are M42 mounts and are available at low prices.

I recently bought a new 45+ year old Asahi SMC Takumar 50mm f1.4 lens. This takes me back to days when the photographer was more in control than the camera. I think that this is a darn good lens and produces really good bokeh to boot. I paid $71.00 for it and the condition is near mint.

Hey, Bigjoe, that image is too small. This needs a big download.

Still being fed by parents. This is the best photo I've ever taken of this species.

A test shot taken with a newly acquired Asahi Takumar SMC 50mm F1.4 lens. It compares equally with my best "designed for digital" fully auto lenses. It is enjoyable to again use a lens that requires thinking. This lens is over 45 years old and in near mint condition.

The chemtrails in the first two do not enhance the images. I like the rest.

Yesterday I received a new, 45+ year old Pentax(Asahi) Takumar SMC 50mm f1.4 lens from an ebay seller. It was in near mint condition. I usually begin testing by setting up my tripod and camera(Sony A57) 6 or 7 feet from a bookcase. I like to use books, as they have a great variety of bold colors. I use available room light. I use f8 and ISO at 100. I trigger off self timer. This is the result from this lens and is a crop of 1/3rd of the original image area. I think that for $70.00, it was a very good buy. This will be my first manual lens since I sold my my last Rolleiflex.
