......so the shutter needs to stay open longer to get everything in focus.
In teaching persons, new to photography, we must be careful when using the words sharper, focus and blur as related to shutter duration.
A longer shutter duration does not insure that an image will be more in focus.
;)
Otherwise, very good!

I was taught at a very young age to NOT to take what is not yours.
Asking is however an option.
If you take a picture of my personal garden, or any other item I have labored to design and build; then place it on your wall, have you stolen from me?
You have taken something that is not yours.....right?

I can't answer your question but I wanted to say that first image is beautiful. Have you considered printing it on metallic paper?
Can someone direct me to a view of a 'metallic paper' image?
Thanks.

With this policy in place you may never be able to get your roof replaced. :(

A couple nights ago I was taking pictures of the moon using a tripod and self timer. I set the manual focus on infinity. In all my photos the moon was out of focus. I haven't had a chance to investigate as it's been cloudy each night since. I suspect I went "beyond infinity". Is this possible. I shoot with a D80.
Most optical devices go beyond infinity as related to the mechanical adjusting mechanism (lens element spacing and movement) to allow for manufacturing tolerances, environment and use (wear) factors. Look at the moon with your binoculars. You should be able to see the effect as you adjust toward infinity for focus. If you keep going in that direction until you hit the stop, it probably will defocus slightly as the spacing of the lenses goes beyond infinity! Its a mechanical/lens convergence thing!
Isnt the simple answer: The apparent focal length of some zoom lenses is different when the lens is focused on an object at infinity as compared to what it is when focused on an object at close range.
