I Recently started using the Tamron 70-200 G2 with my D750 and find the images are a little soft an all focal lengths (worse at 200mm). I have heard (rumor) that this lens was designed for a higher resolution camera such as the D810. Anyone with a similar experience? Should I have it calibrated or send to Tamron?

The (rumor) is false. And that rumor centers on the D850. The truth is the D850 makes all lenses used on it BETTER.
And the fact is this, Tamron lenses are designed to work on several camera's, Nikon lenses, on the other hand, are specifically designed to work on ONLY Nikon camera's. I could go into a very long discussion about third party glass, but I will not.
Let me just say that the Nikon 70-200 VRII and it's successor do a fine job and deliver outstanding results time and time again.

Hi
What AF settings should I use for my D850 to properly track subjects that are moving (wildlife, birds) and get tack sharp photos instead of the focus point / area being in the ‘wrong’ place as the subject moves? For still shots I use back button focus via the AF-ON button programmed to single point focus. My camera is set to AF-C.

GROUP AUTO FOCUS is all I use and my keep rate is almost 99%. I assign the rear focus button to single spot focus for when my subjects are in the branches and I want to make sure the branches do not effect the focus point.
GROUP AUTO FOCUS is outstanding for keeping the eyes in focus, as long as one of the four focus squares that show in the middle of the viewfinder is on the bird, it will be in focus. Group auto focus was designed to ignore the back ground and keep focus on your subject. Keeping all four spots on the subject is even better. Good luck and keep on shooting until the end.
Shown below, Green Heron, Wakodahatchee Wetlands. Grab shoot using Group Auto Focus

I have a D7100 and was looking to upgrade to a full frame camera and with some wise advise from the HOG, decided I would be better off to get the D500 and share lens. However, when Eye AF was announced in the Z6 I started rethinking it. Most of my photography is associated with people in meetings, presentations etc. and the Eye AF would be nice to have. In a post this week someone mentioned that it is expected that the function would be made available on the D850 in the future and that made me wonder if there was any chance it would be added to the D500. I called Nikon the they would only say there are no upgrades currently scheduled for the D500 at this point. Is there any reason to believe it could be added to the D500?

Nikon recently added a firmware eye focus system to the Z's ONLY.
I believe the next generation of D500, D850, and D5 will all have eye focus capabilities. I believe they are currently experimenting with the Z's to see how it goes. They must keep pace with Sony. Right now, the Sony system is in graduate school and everyone else is in elementary school when it comes to eye focus systems.
So, to answer your question, in a year or so the D560, D860, and D5s or D6 will have it. Stay tuned.

I've been asked to buy one of my pictures that I took with my smart phone the other day while I was entering my office bldg. As I don't carry my D5300 every day to work, this is all that I had. It actually came out rather decent.

Back to my original question - I do my own printing on a Canon Pro 100 using, in this case, Canon Pro Luster 13x19 paper. I figured my cost of paper, ink & matting (I used the cost for a pre-cut 16x20 white mat @ Michael's but I'll do my own cutting) to be $11.09. I'm thinking of selling it for $25.00.

No added labor in my costs as it took me all of 5 minutes to compose and expose, no post-processing (SOOC) and maybe 20 minutes to cut the mat and mount the picture. If I were to charge labor, what rate is acceptable for an advanced amateur? $25.00/hr? More, less or good as is?

Think $25.00 is a fair price for a co-worker?

Thanks

Coworker. Do you plan to go professional? If yes, the going rate is 3 times your cost minimum. No, hourly charges are for pre assigned work, not after the fact.
Cover your costs and add enough to buy you a drink after work. It's a cell phone photo after all.

I've been looking to pickup a D7200, possibly refurb. I see now that the D7500 refurb is going for almost the same price, why would that be? Isn't the D7500 the same as a D500 lite?

Looks like your considering three camera's. There are many sites on google that compares them. Here is one
https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/compare/Nikon_D750_vs_Nikon_D500_vs_Nikon_D7500_vs_Nikon_D7200/BHitems/1082604-REG_1214162-REG_1333060-REG_1127272-REG/?c3api=0980%2C%7Bcreative%7D&m=Y&msclkid=cfb5f28da6311cd763f4afa40f250ac4

There are many, many, more. If your into sports, the D7500 and D500 both have a focusing system called GROUP AUTO FOCUS, which, is out standing. BUT, the D500 has a separate focusing engine, the same focusing system that went into the D850 and D5.
So, for wildlife and sports, if that is your game, go with the D500. For general shooting, either the D7200 or D7500 will do. By the way, many here will harp on the fact that the D7500 only has one memory slot. But, for the past 15 years of digital, I never needed more than one slot.
All three will deliver, it is up to you to match the camera to your current and future shooting needs.

I need to make a presentation using digital photos. In the past, I would use Powerpoint. Any suggestions of other presentation programs?

You can add digital images to a power point presentation. Just the photo's will show. NO problem. And, you can always add words too. Power point is still a great way to make a presentation, and just put it on a memory stick and take it any where.

Great Point ...

I called Nikon yesterday. NO PLANS FOR D860 or D760. Rumors are always going to be there. Yes, eventually their will be a successor to all camera's. But only the company knows, and they are saying NOTHING. And NO ONE else knows either.

Awful lot of talk about Canon and Nikon for a topic about Sigma, and then there is the usual name calling and petty pouting. Not a whole lot on the new Sigma camera. I shot Sigma for many years and stayed with it when I made the switch to digital, working my way through the first two versions of Sigma digital cameras. Finally had to admit that Sigma made an OK lens, but their camera was a bust. I could see no advantage to Foveon. Anything shot at more that 200 ISO was horribly noisy. The camera was a monster weight wise, and on and on. Personally, I wouldn't bother reading their literature.

So, basically your trashing early Sigma camera's. One of the reason's their lenses were OK is because some or their early camera lenses were made by Nikon.

Just pointing out that THE COMPANY produces their own annual report, not the SEC. The company has zero incentive to downplay their sales results. Individual salespersons, depending on their territory and yearly target, may be doing fine, but the annual report tells the truth about the company as a whole. All the successful salesmen I know carefully read their company’s annual report (so they can plan their future).

I will agree to kindly disagree. My folks tell me a different story. Maybe they are the only ones reaching their sales goals, maybe many others are not. How knows. All I know is the guys I talk to tell me they are reaching their sales goals.

That news is from Canon, not the SEC. It is known as the Annual Report put out by the company. You should try reading it. And if you think the camera companies are putting out fake news, don't you think (that's a question in itself) they would make themselves look better?

Your friends should pay more attention to their company's annual report.

"Imaging System 1,008,165 -11.3%

If you take the time to read the facts, the report says that digital photography is the bulk of "Imaging Systems"

This is for 2018. Lucky for them that most of the rest of the company is doing well. If you think phone calls to a few friends is more accurate you should make a formal complaint to the SEC.

No thanks. I have faith in friendship. No misleading SEC fake news.

Well Bill, CO isn't necessarily wrong here. According to this article I read on the Northbound Light website a number of years ago, optically, the eye is closest to a 22mm lens with a 120° angle of view on a full frame camera, or a 33-1/3mm lens on APS-C. But perceptually, with two eyes, and what we "actually" see, everything changes to somewhere around 43mm on a full frame camera.

I respectively disagree. So do my two photographer professors at Ohio University.

When making the decision whether to buy a Z7 or not, I looked at a bunch of differences in the technologies, but one question finally settled it. Does the Z7 take better pictures than the D850? The answer is no. Same number of pixels, same ISO range, and same fps (with power grip on the D850). Until the Nikon mirrorless cameras take better pictures, their dslr technology is not obsolete.

Understand your position.
Nikon is releasing firmware to improve the focusing on their Z series camera's (which was a big knock on them). The firmware reportably makes the Z camera's capable of focusing on the eyes of people. Later this summer Nikon has mentioned that they will release more firmware to make their Z camera's focus on the eyes of animals.
IF this happens it could be a game changer for the Z camera's. I have always liked the two major advantages of mirrorless camera's. They are: 1. No need to ever fine tune a lens ever. 2. in Manual you see exactly what the exposure is going to be before you take the shot.

That's even funnier. If you took the time to read (listen) before writing (speaking) you would realize that the Nikon Rumors site posts more than rumors. In this case they provided their sources so you can check the facts for yourself … but then you would be very disappointed.

Where are your sources?

My sources? As a old fart Nikon Rep. from before time I keep in touch with my colleagues still in the business. Some of my old friends have gone over to the dark Canon side. They all report sales are up and have had a sustained 10 year growth. Since they are in the business I tend to believe them. They also tell me that they have all met their sales goals and get their annual bonus checks on time.
Now, I guess you could say they are all lying and sales are not up and they are not meeting their sales goals and are not getting their bonus checks, if you want to.
