See this guy most times I walk around downtown and this morning he wanted to show off his pecan. Another attempt at "a quality photograph". (Almost afraid to use that phrase because of the flaming comment or two about the first photo I posted.)

Must be a great trail with those adornments along the way!

Got out this morning and saw this mocking bird fly up to her nest. Seemed to be content to be among all the electrical wires. Tough city bird!

Great photo, enough depth of field and then well blurred background. Don't see that often. (Thank you for the settings.)

Besides at the current rate of technological advancements in lenses...

Do appreciate your comments and especially the above copied from your post.

My equipment was purchased in 2008 to photograph my grandkids sporting events. Guess the best comparison could be is that's in the realm of using a ten year old cell phone to surf the internet.

That's a real Blue Jay, wondering what distance, camera settings, etc. (Hope you think wanting to attempt to copy is flattery.)

You can go to ebay or amazon search for beach carts and then google the ones you are interested in and add the word reviews, Amazone will have reviews as a clickable option. There are many variations of back packs and you can use the same process. Think Tank and Lowpro are well made. I have the Lowpro 450, it has wheels so I can take it of and roll it giving my back a rest if the terrain is suitable, it is a large bag and heavy when loaded and can fit a lot of gear. There are smaller ones so be sure you get the size you think will work best for you as most of the people here that do a lot of off site shooting most of us have a collection of bags and carriers.

Looked up this old post and wonder if anyone might have bought or fabricated some sort of equipment carrier that works well for themselves. If so I'd like to not have to re-invent the wheel so to speak and if you would please post a photo or a short description it'd help me put together something for my self. Thank you in advance, Tommy2

American Kestrel? Certainly a fun perspective! Exif says shot with i-phone. Did you try to edit lighter for to see if you could bring out details in the bird? I was going to suggest - if using camera - to anticipate next opportunity by setting exposure compensation to account for the bright background.

Yep, that’s our pet Kestrel. And yes that was taken with an iPhone SE. I did try to lighten it and was moderately successful. That was the best that could be done - pushed it to looking to photoshopped then backed off a step to two. The glass on that west facing window is very tinted so glad the image had enough info to bring out what we see there.

However I do not really know PS Elements well so maybe I’ll try again after learning more.

That capture was a very lucky one, that bird has excellent hearing. I had just stepped into the doorway all the way on the other of that room and because he turned around to check out the noise I had time to get off one shot. Have tried before and will try again to get a better image.

I need to take your advice and set a real camera with those settings just outside that room’s door.

Thank you for the note.

Just saw this guy flash by the window from his perch on my neighbor's railing. His observation point on our balcony's railing or the one above or below our apartment seems to be a prime hunting location. This is the south west corner of our building with a view of the natural landscape for quite a distance along the Trinity River meandering though our city of close to a million population.

I've wanted to place a feeder for song birds out there but my neighbors tell me they have done so and received zero visitors. I did put a feeder in the lawn at ground level and can always tell when this guy is sitting on a balcony railing near us. There are zero birds getting the seed. It amazes me how fast he can get down there.

I have finally become content to try to photograph birds from a couple hundred feet away. It's always a chore to move my camera to ground level and in doing so puts a crimp on my enjoyment of photographing birds.

The D750 will have lower resolution after cropping...but the image quality may be better, because of the larger pixels.

Reading extensively on this subject trying to determine if my next camera needs to be full frame or crop sensor the above statement is voiced by an overwhelming majority of reviewers.

The nicely defused light this morning from a thin cloud cover is always good for a photo or two. Even this 8Mp ten year old camera seemed to work fairly well. Quickly grabbed it and took the shot while putting the other equipment away after watching the usual flock of bluejays pick up their allotted offering of pecan halves.

This little guy was standing around outside the periphery of the flock gorging themselves and when they left moved up to get the last morsels (noticed he's going for the largest of the two).

Also noticed, when viewing the morning's collection on this laptop, he's somewhat handicapped having only one leg. However he seems to have adapted well - please notice his foot has been turned about 85 degrees clockwise to help balance himself side to side.

His flying is no slouch though, he blasted into the air same as all the others after getting their share of the groceries.
