This is beautiful. I've never seen anything like it.
Driving along hwy 97 south of Coeur D'Alene there are miles and miles of marshland.
A little excitement in the park
Same camera as mine, but better pictures. Nice job.
Thank you for your comments
even a dandelion can look good. I took my dog out in the yard about sunset, and saw this.
Thanks, woodweasel. I am very much an amateur, but I enjoyed testing my equipment anyway.
The reason was simply that the zoom at 100mm had to be 1.8 m away, and the image was smaller. To get comparable sized images I had to move farther away and zoom to 400 mm.
That heron (did I get that right?) is a magnificent shot. Love it.
The other day on UHH I saw some great bird closeups, and saw that they were taken from ten to fifteen feet away with a long lens. I decided to do an informal comparison between the Canon EF100mm f/2.8L macro and the Canon EF 100-400 f/4.5-5.6L. Both pictures are ISO 400 and hand held.
They are both pretty sharp at the area of best focus, but the shallower depth of field at 400 mm is apparent.
I think they both do a good job, but because of the depth of field, I would probably use the 100mm macro when practical.

It appears that Copernicus was wrong after all
Beautiful shots. Sky and snow work together well.
Thanks! I didn't realize that ND filters got that dark.
On Blewett Pass, highway 97 just a few miles from Ellensburg Washington I came upon this old barn. The setting was so idyllic that I just had to stop.
It's in a beasutiful meadow with treed hills in the background
in a valley that just goes on
