I believe what happens is that somewhere in the chain someone scans the label as being delivered, but it is not. Maybe makes the record look better, etc. Has been happening periodically for me for quite sometime with Amazon packages.

The postal system is symbolic of the central problem with the country. Regardless of party we all want low taxes, but can't, won't? decide what we are willing to pay for or do without. The postal problems have been around a long time, it started when it became semi-non-government, they had federal retirement which the government left the benefits in place, but did not fund. Since then many proposals have been made to change things, 3 day delivery week, close small post offices, but congress has blocked virtually all of it. Again we want our post office, want 6 day delivery and want cheap stamps.

We can argue for ever on what is most important, Social security, defense, research, etc., but in the end, not choosing will leave us like many other countries in history, BROKE.

The average mortality rate from a Covid infection is currently averaging about 3.3% depending on the day (figures from CDC and Johns Hopkins), and the current US population is 328 million. You do the math - what % of the population would need to contract the virus for the death toll to be 1 million? 2 million? I’ll give you a hint: ~10 and 20%. Not an unreasonable infection rate if we return to business as usual, take zero precautions and let the disease “run it’s course” Approximatey 1.5% of the US population have already become infected in just a few months in spite of our best preventative efforts, although they have certainly been inconsistent and poorly led (and that’s being very charitable).
