Lovely start Ellen. I don't know if they are related, but I remember skylarks from my English childhood - they used to go so high to sing that you could barely see them. Strange for a ground-nesting bird.

I was reading about the Skylark. The male can get to heights of 150 to 300 feet.

The raptor flight show at the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum near Tucson is not to be missed. These are free-flying birds that know who feeds them. it is seasonal, and it gets crowded, and the docents are very firm about not raising your camera above the heads of the tallest in the crowd. I'm short, so I positioned myself at a railing in front of one of the trees the owls land on for their "prey".

Nice captures. Sounds like an interesting place to go. hanks for sharing.

I walked slowly into a large flock of grazing geese. This is the resulting panic flight.

Interesting series. I'll have to try it sometime.

Last year a robin built a nest in a precarious position on the angled part of one of our downspouts, and on Mother's Day 2020, the nest fell off, along with the baby birds living therein. We reconstructed the nest (our kitchen now down one hanging fruit basket), returned the birds, and everyone did well, with the birds eventually leaving the nest. This year, what we assume is the same robin came back to her ready-made nest, added a few twigs just to say she contributed something, and raised a new batch of baby birds. I've never been into bird pix, but with the nest outside our kitchen window, it was hard to resist getting a few photos. The first few shots are of the babies in the nest and the last two are iPhone shots of one of the fledglings after they set off from the nest today.

Very nice job of nest construction, CE. Thanks for the story and baby bird pictures.

Stunning set. I'm not familiar with what the bird in the first picture is?
