I think I would have pick off the 3 leaves on the bottom making the focal point the 1 red leaf and getting closer to the subject. It is in the correct place in the photo for the rule of 3rds IMO. Other than that it is a nice shot.
Make your choice on the furthest distance you want to be from the camera and you will be satisfied with your purchase.

I would think that a good local camera shop could help out here.
I have the Tamron 18-250 as a walk around and just love it and haven't had it off the camera since its purchase.
If they are under a year old why wouldn't you send them back to Tamron and have them looked at.
I purchased an 18 - 250 and never had those problems with the lens. Tamrom is a reliable company and I am sure they would want to correct a possible manufacturing problrm for you unless you are just trying to unload the lenses.
Post some so we can see what you are talking about.
Take a printer with a screen that prints out at 300dpi & accepts the card you are using and you should be all set. Make sure there is power available. and have several cards to work from.
