The lens is only calibrated to the one camera. It would need to be recalibrated for use on another camera.
I paid to have it done. More expensive than buying a tap in consul, but the results at all focal lengths are great.
I bought a Tamron 100-400 for my partner and had it calibrated by a specialist company. I may be wrong, but I understand that if you get the “tap in” consul process wrong then it can mess up the lens. The lens is now tack sharp on a D7200.
Rudeness seems to be a trend on UHH of late. Not really necessary. I also missed the discussion on RAW so a simply drawing it to attention would be better than the “are you serious “ comment. With that attitude I wonder how people get along in life!!
Those articles just about sum up the problems with drones. Drone users please read and reflect on how your pastime can affect others!!
Great reply. How pathetic is it that someone on our site is more interested in picking up on grammar than answering the question.
I’ve encountered it more than once. If you are somewhere scenic it is very annoyingly have a drone buzzing around overhead. Perhaps you are one of the more considerate people who fly drones, but there are plenty who are not.
Can you image what it would be like if you turned up at a beauty spot and everyone was flying drones!! People flying drones are solely thinking about themselves. They have no respect for other people who find it annoying to have a drone buzzing around overhead when they are trying to enjoy their holiday. I am sure this will prompt some negative press, but just think about how others may feel when your drone is buzzing around them.
Sometimes people hear what they want to hear!
I had this with the D7200. You’ve hit the Bkt button by mistake. Very frustrating as sometimes I would be happily shooting away to find a series of photos with different settings to the ones I wanted.
That’s interesting. Did you find the original foot came loose. Mine seems very tightly fixed. Do you have to insert a metal shim with the Wimberley foot? If so does this scratch the fixing point if I ever want to replace it with the original?
I have a Nikon 500PF lens and have been reading with some concern about the problems with the quick release foot being accidentally activated and the camera and lens falling to the ground. I note that Steve Perry mentioned this in his review. He has also recently recommended replacing the Nikon foot with a Henjar foot. RRS and Wimberley also make a replacement foot. However, living in theUK I have found it difficult to buy a replacement foot from American websites. Most quote 6-8 weeks delivery and the cost of postage is 50% or more the cost of the foot. My question is whether there are any UHH users that have found a suitable replacement foot from a UK retailer.
If I shot mainly landscapes I would buy a mirrorless camera tomorrow. I don’t, I shoot action and bif so DSLR wins for me every time.
I often shoot wildlife at high shutter speeds, bif 1/2500-3200+. I also regularly shoot other slower moving wildlife at 1/1000++. Up to now I have always had VR on. While I appreciate that at higher shutter speeds VR is not generally needed I find the steadying effect of VR on my viewfinder focus helps when tracking fast moving subjects. However, I have recently seen reports that VR at high shutter speeds can downgrade your images. I wonder what others do? So the question is do you use VR or not at higher shutter speeds. Apologise to Canon users so same question for IS.
