I can't recall where in the Palouse region I found the barn. After traveling many small gravel roads, I tend to get myself turned around. But, I saw this barn from a distance and thought... "Yep, that one will work just fine". After some minor tweaking with Affinity Photo, this popped out. Comments are welcome.

Another beauty, Ken. Get any landscapes of the wheat fields?

No, there was a slight haze in the air.

So, attached is the sepia barn in the original version, along with a few minor enhancements. Granted, the contrails can be a bit of a distraction as well as the power lines, but sometimes you simply have to deal with the cards you're dealt. Directly in back of the barn is modern day harvesting equipment while on the left side is a steep drop off to the roadway. On the far right is a cyclone fence. Anyway, I spent a week in the Palouse region with nothing but time on my hands, a camera in the passenger seat, and a tank full of gas. Comments are always welcome. Good, bad, or otherwise. Ken

The first house was posted No Trespassing by the property owners, while the second house is perched on top of a hill. Although it was not posted, I decided not to trespass out of respect for the owners. So, this is about the best composition that could be had. In both photos, minimal post work was done to add depth to the houses and foreground and a polarizing filter for the skies. I also had to clone out numerous no trespassing signs stapled to the first house. Comments are welcome. Ken

Excellent composition, Ken, but it looks too monochrome to be true sepia to me.

Yep. The toning was kept to a minimum as I generally get a bit carried away with adjustments.

I really like the shot and what you've done, but I'm not seeing much sepia?

I kept the sepia tone very mild as I usually get carried away with adjustments

Lovely. I have heard a lot about the area and would be fun to visit. If it were mine, I would try to do something with the con trails as well as the electrical wires going to the barn. Distracting to me.

Sometimes you simply have to shoot what you're given. Shooting positions was very limited as the barn sat on the edge of a hill with a sharp drop off to the street. In back of the barn was modern day harvesting equipment. Further away from the barn it was a gravel driveway.

The contrails could possibly be dealt with by using software, but my skills in that fashion really suck. Had I tried, my efforts would have clearly shown and ruined the entire photo.

I came across this old barn while spending a week in the Palouse region of Washington. The barn is located very close to Pullman, out on a dusty gravel road.

Attached is another photo of a beautiful old barn located just north of Colfax, Washington. Very little post work was done, other than to slightly enrich the color depth and the use of a polarizing filter for the sky. This too was photographed using my Panasonic Lumix FZ1000 bridge camera. I think the photo looks much better when clicking the download button. Comments are welcome. Ken

First of all, this is a beautiful color photograph (I think) and will probably post soon. However, I also like to see what can come of it by a black & white conversion. This barn is located in Colfax, Washington in an area commonly known as the Palouse (Pa-loose), an area that lies on either side of the Washington / Idaho border. An area rich in farming, harvesting, and homesteading. The photo was taken with a Panasonic Lumix FZ1000 bridge camera. Post work was done with Affinity Photo and the Luminar Flex plugin. Comments are always welcome. Good, bad, or otherwise. Ken

These two photos have only been slightly edited to enrich the colors as well as a polarizing filter for the blue skies. It's an amazing place during late spring, with rolling hills and valleys of beautiful green winter wheat.

Last one to submit. Several adjustments in Luminar Flex, but nothing dramatic. Comments are welcome. Ken
