Just stumbled upon this forum and thought I'd give it a shot. My fabulous mother surprised me with a camera this year for Christmas...and I'm loving it! I've always had a point and shoot it seems, and this is my first DSLR. More often than not, I feel like I've just gotten lucky at times--so hoping to become more consistent.

I'm from near a tiny little village in Ohio that most people haven't heard about...but there are some great areas around here to hike and ride. I've got a couple of ponies...so I do a lot of riding. And they double up as subjects for me to snap pictures of.

My boyfriend has also been using my camera in conjunction with his telescope and motorized mount to try to learn a bit about astrophotography.

Does anyone use the Photoscape program ? I download it (free) but cannot find out how to use it.. Tried to find instructions but to no avail... Any suggestions??

I just downloaded FastStone Image Viewer, it's great and has all the tools. What I like best is the way you can magnify your images.

You can get it through Google and its Freeware.

Nice pictures, the last two have a interesting formation for sure. A tip for getting good cloud pics is to try to always get a bit of the ground in. Sometimes that means backing out on the shot but the ground will give the clouds reference and perspective.

Those are some angry skys, glad you weren't in the path of the tornado.

I couldn't shoot that low, too many houses and tree's around, if I had been at the U.S.A.F. Museum about 1/2mi away I could have.

Thanks for the comment's everyone!

I don't remember the meteorology name for these clouds, but a lot of people photographed them and a tornado touched down about 6 mi. east.

Go to ManualsInk.com, that's where I ordered one for my camera, but they are 11x8 1/2. I think I paid about $14.00

I posted a very sad photo of an Ibis tangled in fishing line and hanging dead from a telephone wire. Admin informed me that they pulled it because many people complained that it was too gory. Come on!! We are all adults ! There was a WARNING notice on the post with a clear description of what was inside. The image of that bird struggling to get free will burn in my mind forever. Although you can't see the picture, I implore you to imagine it. Can't we educate each other about things other than photos? There is a world turning out there and we need to open our eyes and see it. Not every picture in life is pleasing to the eye.

I should have said can Wacom remove date and time stampl
Let me explain that a Wacom pad looks similar to a mouse pad and it is used with a pen like tool which acts much like mouse does but with more sensitivity in the better ones. It is much easier to be precise working with a devise used the same way as you would a pen or pencil than manipulating a mouse with your wrist. As far as removing the date stamps, it can do no more than a mouse..it can be done but a lot of work...cloning or repainting the areas where it appears.
Thanks!

I was wondering if any of you use a mouse pen? A lot of times when I have done some editing of my photos, usually when tone mapping, a lot of times I end up having to do a little painting on them. I am thinking that this would be easier if I had a i-pen or mouse pen. Would one of these work for something like that? Thanks :)

I have a medium Wacom tablet and love it!

It can be used just about all of the time with so many applications ---your web browser, e-mail reader ---and I have mine set up for use with Lightroom, Photoshop, and On One Perfect Photo Suite to do many different tasks.

I posted on Sunday but it apparently didn't post. Here are a few of my pics from my Canon SX30IS. Most of my photo's so far have
been taken through the living room window and most on auto.

Welcome to the HOG. I can help you take the date code off if you like. Some photo viewing software will show you the date, time, and camera settings for ever so you don't need the distraction on the picture. Nice work.

Thanks everyone, yes Meives, but I have a lot more that I need to remove the date and time from, is there a program. I have Photo Explosion maybe I can do it with that.

I use PhotoShop Elements 9. 10 is out now. Not too expensive and it has all you need. Simple clone process.
