The Chicago-San Francisco train has the very cool name of the California Zephyr! The name is the same in both directions but the number changes.
A super set. I would like to see you do a similar series in your own home town!
I live in Savannah and your images make me want to get in my car right now and drive south!
Thanks for this list of what to take. I hope to go someday soon.

Say "bonjour" when you enter a shop, even if that's all the French you know. Say "Au revoir" as you leave. Do not walk into a shop and just start walking around touching things. Be very alert on the trains to/from CDG; pick-pockets love this train as passengers are usually travelers who are not paying attention. There are many small museums in Paris that are not crowded. Don't wear a backpack. Stay in the 6th for the best shops and restaurants. Skip the E Tower except to view it from the ground. Do take a night cruise on the Seine, even though it's for tourists. Don't eat breakfast in your hotel if it's not included in the room rate. Have a great trip.
I live in Savannah and enjoy seeing marshes most days. I love the third image but all are good.

Another great group of shots. Btw, what's the plural of mongoose?
They look like a lawsuit in the making.
I had a pancake lens for my Olympus OM2s (I regret selling all my Olympus film kit) and it was great for street shooting, esp while traveling in other countries, as was unobtrusive.
If your wife is traveling with a group the guide will give all the info needed about what can be photographed and where there are fees. Personally I think photo time on a short tour is better spent in street scenes, medieval architecture (old Cairo), and the bazaars. You can buy many beautifully produced and printed books on ancient Egypt with professional photographs taken under perfect conditions that a tourist in a group will never match. I have been twice and found the tombs and museums to be so crowded that great photography was impossible.
# 5 is the best! Anyone can take a good picture of a cat (they are perfect subjects) but finding a subtle image? Rare.
Great looking dog...whoever surrendered her to a shelter missed out...your gain.
