Thanks Rich for your post. If your interested in seeing images of and stories of member's first cameras, search my topic..."Show us your first camera from back in the day".

Yes, I read it with interest but I didn't get around to responding. Sorry.

. Recently, someone wrote in asking people to tell us about their first camera. I didn’t respond but I was motivated to do some research and find a picture of my first camera. It was a Kodak Baby Brownie Special. The Baby Brownie cost $1.00 and the Special cost $1.25. Mother splurged on the Special. I think it was for my eleventh birthday, about 81 years ago. The Special was distinguished by the glass viewfinder and the white button that actuated the shutter. It used 120 black and white film, eight exposures per roll. An aside: printer manufacturers today practically give their printers away and make a killing selling the ink. I believe Kodak might have been the pioneer of that strategy, selling cameras at low prices and making all their profit on the film. Anyway, it was a decent little camera and I used it for years. My daughter-in-law is sorting through old albums now so I will ask her to find some of my old pictures and I will scan them and bore you with them later.

There are a large number of full-size sculptures of prehistoric creatures around Borrego Springs in Southern California. They are mind boggling. All but one were scaled from fossils found in the area so are authentic though I suspect the artist embellished them some to make them look more fierce. The serpent is the exception. It is mythological. To give you a sense of scale the wider gap between the center humps of the serpent is a highway. I took these nine years ago with my Nikon D90. The sculptures are miles apart so I advise visitors to obtain a map first. PS. The wild flowers at a certain time in the Spring are fantastic, also.

In gold country, along the western slope of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, near Volcano, California is a farm called Dafodil Hill. Over one hundred years ago, a woman started planting daffodils and her family has continued the tradition. It is open to the public when the flowers are in bloom. I took these pictures with a Nikon D80. twelve years ago. It's an old man's prerogative to look back and remember.

Hardly anyone agrees with me but I have used the Nikon 18-105 lens as my all around favorite for years. It is very sharp and not heavy. 18-105 is a good range for landscapes to portraits. Some don't like it that it has a plastic mount but I have not found that to be any kind of problem. I love mine.

You have gotten a ton of advice already but here is mine. I am 17 miles from the Cape Kennedy launch site. My experience is that the rocket is visible for about two minutes. I shoot with an 18 mm lens at f/11 or f/16 for 120 or so seconds. It works beautifully.

Good shot. Thanks. The last time I tried the trail I was almost consumed by mosquitos. Or, was that the May Lake trail? It was so long ago, I can't remember. Anyway, great country and a great picture.

A few miles north of MV off Highway 163 is Valley of The Gods. There is a 17 mile gravel road through it. It is almost as spectacular as MV. Well worth the side trip and easily accessible by automobile. Also, get a copy of the auto club Indian Country Guide Map. It is about the most wonderful map I have ever seen and it covers that area in detail.

I am sorry I asked! Wow! Twelve pages of replies. I can't possibly read them all. I did uncover two very helpful replies that I appreciate very much. I much prefer to get this camera repaired than purchasing a used one for more money not knowing its condition. I hope this is the end of the discussion.
Thanks, again to those who tried to be helpful.

Thanks for all the replies. I m 91 years old and I love this D7200 so I want it repaired. I do not want to upgrade. It has everything I want or need. I am sure it, properly repaired, will be better than a crap shoot with a used camera.
Special thanks to billnikon for his suggestion of MidwesternCamera. I will ty them.

I just had an interesting and frustrating exchange with Nikon. I asked them to reparse my D7200, actually applied with serial number. They gave me permission to return it. When the received it, they told me it was grey market but if I would send them proof of purchase in the US, they could repair it. I sent them POP from Abes of Maine (don't say it). Then they told me they were returning it unfixed because they could not tell which country it was intended for and that cameras were constructed differently for different countries.
All this leads me to the often asked and answered question, who does repair grey market Nikons? Of course, I never kept a record of previous answers.
I will appreciate any help.
