Actually I kind of like it. Not really sure what’s politically incorrect about it but it does make you wonder

I own the 6Dmarkii and I love it. However it really is basically an 80D with a full frame sensor. You will lose some shutter speed as the 80D will shoot 8000 sec and the 6Dmarkii will only shot 4000th sec. but you will get better low light with the 6Dmarkii but really not enough to notice. There are hundred of comparisons on YouTube of both cameras. Moving to the 6Dmark to you will also lose that extra reach of the crop sensor. If it was me I would spend the money on better glass. However I am looking at the 90D that just released just because of the extra reach and shutter speed for a wildlife camera. Remember it’s the glass that makes the photo not the camera

One more vote for the Godox 860. I have two with a remote transmitter and love them. Currently I am using them on stands in my home studio shooting through a set of soft boxes and sometimes the bounce umbrellas

In general you don't need to get consent to photograph somebody. You may need to get consent based on how the photograph is to be used.

Actually that is so not a true statement. In Washington state I hired a lawyer to research this issue due to all the human rights people up there. Anyone who is in public and appears to be over the age of 16 may be photographed without consent. Anyone who is within a private owned building and under age 16 permission must be given. Actors are a different subject. You can be taken to court and sued if you photograph an actor and sell the photo for any reason. They make their living from their looks and talent so they will sue and they will win since they have good lawyers and deep pockets

It would be good practice but you may want to look into the legal issues. Some may not want their photo taken and some may but the family doesn’t want it done and may have power over they individuals decision making. I worked or volunteered at one for a while and we as a staff would not allow portraits or photography to be done unless it was in one private room. And only that person lived in so room

Okay, I'll bite. Looked up the Lensball, saw their website, lots of pretty pictures of the ball, but I don't see anything showing how you USE it.

What do you DO with it? Does it attach to the front of a lens, and how?

The ball is placed in stand or on ground or close to a object. The object is then photographed through the ball. From what I know

I ordered the Lensball brand from Amazon, I got the 60mm & 80mm. Lensball also sells a small suction cup holder that the base has a tripod mount in it. You have to be extremely careful in sunlight, if the sun hits it, it will burn you in an instant, or anything that is in its way. The glare that was mentioned above is a real issue for me. If I am indoors or in a covered area outdoors, it works great, but out in the open it is very frustrating. You see some really amazing shots done with these, but I feel lucky getting maybe 1 or 2 nice shots without glare out of about 30 or 40! They are fun and frustrating at the same time! Happy lensball hunting.

Thank you for your reply. It seems that most people are having problems with glare. Makes me wonder if they are worth the investment

A quick caution. I received a glass ball as a gift last year and have used it some to take images of flowers. I find the lighting a real challenge to avoid glare on one side of my image. The posts on Pinterest, etc always look tons better than what I have been able to achieve so far.

I did see a good idea. Cut the top of a 20 oz pop bottle. Drill a small hole through the cap and screw the cap into a board. Then screw the bottle top into the lid and you have a nice holder for the ball. I used a narrow piece of wood that will fit into the Arca Swiss head on my tripod. Makes it easier than trying to hold the ball in one hand and the camera in your other hand. ( I did go back and re-trim the bottle portion a couple of times to reduce the amount of it that shows up in the bottom of the ball on an image. )

Thank you for the advice and tip for making a holder. I’ve seen some really great photos done with them and that’s what has sparked my interest. I will be sure to keep an eye out for the glare. Thank you again

I’m a Canon guy but I do have the Tamron150-600G2 series and love it. I purchased mine over a year ago for 1100 new off Adorama with the dock so I imagine they are starting to drop more into your price range

The EF 85mm f/1.8 is a gem of a lens, portraits and everything. One of the sharpest lenses I've used at any focal length, any brand.

I totally agree, I have both the 50mm 1.8 and the 85mm 1.8 both canon lenses and both purchased for less then 500 dollars and love them. As of today I have only shot 15 different shoots with them ranging from outdoors to my home indoor studio that I recently finished and the customers have been more then pleased and are starting to push more work my way. The more work may be because I’m one of the cheaper priced photographers in my area but I do it for the enjoyment not the money. I currently also have a 24-105 F4 L series lens that I will use outdoors at times but mostly I like my primes for individual portraits. Currently I am shooting with a Canon 6D MarkII but may be considering the New Canon 90D or just stepping on up and purchasing the 5D MarkIV but haven’t found a true reason for needing the new camera body.
