Not only that, cameras/lenses are always cheaper in the US. For example I'm look at purchasing a Tamron lens. In UK it's £ 789 (£200 cheaper at Amazon but grey market). In the States e.g. Adorama it sells for $799 which is about £ 622....jealous....

Well no, that's down to exchange rates. A dollar in the U.S. buys about the same as a pound in the U.K. Americsns don't do a conversion to sterling to check if they're getting value or not.

I use my D850 to take photos of German Shepherds in varying show situations. I added the grip to have 9 fps. I love it. The advantage i can imagine of having a D500 would be its lighter and being able to use a lighter lens for the reach (200ish mm) I need, bc of the 1.5 factor.

I don't understand. You don't have any extra reach with the D500, it is essentially already a cropped version of what you'd get from the D850.

You're lucky in the US. Nikon UK don't seem to do any sales. All the major Nikon approved retailers tend to sell at same price. If you find them much cheaper, they are grey imports....

I was going to say this too. You guys, be glad you get discounts at all. Apple are the same, you get sales over there but we never seem to.

DS & PH,

The setting that I manually reduced towards darker was the exposure setting. If this is confusing for you guys, imagine what it's like for me.

Exposure compensation?

He is incorrect. Deactivating focus on the shutter button is only one approach to using back button focusing on the 7D Mark II. With a less configurable camera with fewer focusing options for the back button it might seem the only way to go. But on this camera it most assuredly is not. See my response to him a few posts above this one.

Oops sorry.

So with this camera there are three options for focus?

You will need to deactivate the AF on half pressing the shutter button. I think some of the responses here could be clearer. Otherwise there is no point having the back button activate focus.

You Brits have all wrong. Ansel Adams is an American icon and we can quote him all that we want. After all, he's one of us. You're just jealous that you don't have an Ansel Adams look- alike. And you spell color wrong as well.

Ah, but you forget, the British founded America. Then our creation got too big, and expelled its creator. Hence, we originated everything you have. 😜 And we spell 'colour' the correct way.

I'm not sure what it was that Bob said that set you off. He's not the first to quote Ansel Adams nor will he be the last. And idolize is spelled with a "z", not an "s".

'Idolise' is the British spelling. I'm British. Ansel Adams has nothing to do with 99% of posts I see on these forums in which he is mentioned. People just like to throw the name around. It's as though because he did it, others have license to do it too. Photography is not defined by what one person did. Do your own thing, and frankly, nobody here has license to degrade another's work without even seeing it. Too much of this happens on these forums too.

I'd go with skill, not snobbery. In the words of Ansel Adams, "The negative is the score. The print is the performance."

Why do you feel the need to quote another photographer? Why not do what you want to do, instead of comparing yourself to someone who used completely different tools to you? Why not let everyone else be proud of their work, instead of dumping on it? Do you expect everyone else to idolise Ansel Adams too?

When discussing a particular programme, please state which programme we are discussing. I now know that it's Lightroom, but only because someone mentioned it in a comment. Cheers.

It should work with all SD cards, not just pro ones. Mine does anyway. I've never had a problem with it. I would suggest though, if speed isn't an issue, other companies such as Leef and many others make their own similar unit using their own app. You would have more flexibility, if needed, as you can use them to write to an SD card, and even back up your device to a card. Just an idea.
