I have Elements 11 and truthfully have not given it a workout as yet. They've changed the interface and I'm not sure whether I like it or not..Some things that were in earlier versions either aren't there or I'm not finding them.

Part of a team..where I do the editing, my vision leans to the "idealist". There are very few images where I don't feel the image would be more interesting to the viewer with some tweaking. There are instances that I might have gotten carried away but overall to my eye, they are better. There are some photographers whose visions, skill in composition and point of view enables them to create something beautiful from a mundane subject straight out of the box, but the majority are carbon copies, everyday views of something seen a thousand times.

There are many programs that could be used but my favorite is Topaz's plug-in Adjust 5. With their photoFXLab, a standalone. Most adjustments can be made by clicking on a visual reference..they can be fine tuned as well. For a more robust all-around program, combined with Corel's Paint Shop Pro...probably all you'd ever need with the least expense. Gimp is a free program but I feel it has a more difficult learning curve.

Create a greeting card and print on a local printer
1From the Edit workspace, click Create, and select Greeting Card (or from the Elements Organizer, select the Create tab, and select Greeting Card).
2Select the appropriate size and theme.
Note: The Sizes panel displays options suitable for various online services.
3Select Autofill With Selected Images to add all the photos already open in the Project Bin.
4Click OK.
Photoshop Elements creates the greeting card and displays Pages, Layouts, Artwork, and Text tabs in the Create panel.
5Use the following options to fine-tune and add creative designs to your greeting card:
Layouts
Double-click a layout to apply it. Drag and drop a layout to apply.
Artwork
Choose a background, frame, and graphics. Double-click or drag and drop an artwork to add it.
Text
Add and edit text on the pages.
6Click Switch To Advanced Mode to access Full Edit options.
Note: You cannot resize a creation in the advanced mode.
7Click Print.
8Click Done.

None of the sub-compacts have viewfinders anymore, at least that i've found..your choices are limited to a bridge camera or an older model. I swear by my Canon SD1100 when size is the consideration..takes very good pictures and fits in a pocket.

I'm a partner in Digitelle Traveler and we have joined the Webshots Community at Flikr..Slowly uploading the best of our albums. There are already 330 members and growing every day. Some of the things that we liked about Webshots have been duplicated such as the Challenges and Weekly Walk. There is also a spot for Graphics and one for critiquing and hints to improve a photo. The Flickr statistics area is superior to the one Webshots had. There is even the Bistro area where people can just chat if they have a mind to. Becoming a Pro member allows unlimited uploads. I think the photo display area is better than Webshots.

The only thing that some people miss is the Webshots Screen Saver, there are a few suggestions as to replacement apps an how to give them a new file extension other than the proprietary one they have. As far as the old app and images that people have bought and collected ..if you already haven't lost them, they need to be moved to another spot on your machine. People who didn't try to download the new Smile app are reporting problems with their old Webshots app failing and images lost so I'd get the images elsewhere and try another unconnected to any Webshots app.

The 7000 is my bridge camera as well. I would have preferred something smaller but none of the compacts have a viewfinder any longer and in bright sunlight the LCD screen is useless. I also have an older Canon SD1100 that is pocket sized and does have a viewfinder..one of the last they made that small. Takes excellent pictures..you might want to look for one.

Depends on what the feature story is...If its for Publix..shots of the model in their various recognizeable departments trying to get the store name in the shot..Shopping in general or special brands, show a full shopping cart...at the checkout counter, selecting item. If possible knowing what the pictures will accompany dictates the shoot...or do them all to be safe.

"From what I understand, it is full. About the best I can do is access the Internet, there is no room to add anything else."

That's an easy work around problem to solve. Buy a flashdrive in the interim..plugs into your USB port and relatively inexpensive, small to throw in your handbag. Save your pictures to it rather than the C drive. Buying while away puts you under duress and I'm not sure there might not be an electrical plug connection difference in Canada or not.

Not necessarily so...a friend just sent me a cell-phone shot of her and her new four-hour old granddaughter. Not only is this a new born but one born a month prematurely. The shot was great from a pose and portrait viewpoint..and even with just a cell-phone...not bad at all.

I would want to find out why such an unlikely choice of timing and place was made rather than something more traditional. Having more information may be a guideline on how to approach it.

It is like using a telescope and peeking in someone's window..stalking..a line that should not have been crossed. Period.

I gave Gimp a try awhile back and pretty much came up with the same conclusions as Jazzplayer. I use Windows, so with that exception, we're on the same page. For a free program, it has a lot going for it but I found the naming conventions can be different and things don't always work in an expected way that most other graphic programs have in common. Open sources can often provide good apps but there can be a consistency problem where there is no collaboration between programmers. For my purposes, Photoshop is overkill although I get into some pretty heavy postwork..It shines where collaboration between individuals is critical as between the photographer or artist and printhouse but in my opinion, it's geared and more valuable to those in the broader graphic fields.

Interesting question...would like the answer to that one myself. I'm wondering if the drive has to be Mac specific.
