I love that part of Oregon, but you missed out by not going a little further south to Cape Perpetua. I hope you at least checked out Otter Rock and the Devil’s Punchbowl.

Newport was the end of the line as we only had so much time. That being said, a few years ago we visited Otter Rock and the Devils Punchbowl. Quite a few of the parks are closed due to covid.

My wife and I spent several days on the Oregon Coast last week. We started off in Astoria, lots of history, toured the maritime museum which was awesome. Then traveling south to Manzanita and final stop in Newport. Beautiful weather for all 7days. Except for one shot taken at Cape Lookout I believe the photos were taken in Newport to include: The area around the Yaquina head lighthouse and the marina in Newport where we spent a couple nights on the Newport Belle. Everything shot with my D850 and 24-70mm f/2.8 non-VR lens.

I just ordered my first lumachrome acrylic metal print, 16 X 20 from Nevada Art Printers. It should be shipped in the next day or two, I’m anxious to see the results.

These shots were probably at least 100 yards and heavily cropped...actually wish they would have been little closer for photo
Nice shots, thanks for sharing. What was the focal length of the lens you used?

I have the Sirui PH 20 and have been very pleased with it. In all fairness, I haven’t used another move expensive gimbal, so I don’t have a basis of comparison. That being said, the Sirui works for me.
I did not know the dogs wear run-downs. Interesting. So how did your camera take the low temps? Did your batteries fail faster as warned?[/quote

My D850 performed flawlessly In the cold. I didn’t notice an unusually lower battery life, bud did keep a spare in my pocket next to a hand warmer. at times my hands got so cold that I was losing the dexterity in my fingertips made manipulating the BBF and controls a little more challenging.

I like the dogs photo.

Thank you, me too. They have the ceremonial start to the Iditarod in Anchorage. It was a lot of fun shooting the different sled dog teams. But man, it didn’t take long to loose all dexterity in your fingers due to the cold.

...that last shot looks like they came to the party...what car were they driving...?

They hoofed it. 🙂 that was about 3 houses away from where we we staying. My wife and I were having a latte at coffee shop in downtown Anchorage. I looked the window which faced a small vacant lot. To my surprise there was a large moose feeding on something. Only in Alaska!
