The song is “Put on your old grey bonnet”.

Searching Google for “through the fields of clover”, “song lyrics include through the fields of clover” and “through the fields of clover song lyrics” brings up nothing on the first page. However, searching for “through the fields of clover, we’ll ride” produces the correct answer. You just had to have been familiar with the song to know this one.

Thanks for trying.

Loren – in Beautiful Baguio City

Sorry, but that song does NOT contain those lyrics. It does contain the phrase "through those fields of clover" but that is not the phrase you gave us.

I haven't seen any answers yet. I came up with two but would like to know others.
My two were Ralph Stanley - "From Father to Son" and the Osmonds - Down Our Way".

If you add song lyric, Google will find more - but you weren't supposed to resort to Google.

John is right - you never said we weren't supposed to use Google. And how would you know anyway if we didn't tell you?

Keep this in mind when walking your dog.

And it's not just the feet - if you are walking with your pet (of a young toddler) the air temperature around the pet's or child's head is a LOT hotter than it is around yours because they are getting a lot more reflected heat than you are.

I just watched a movie on TV a couple of nights ago that I thought was outstanding. I'm not sure how new or old the movie is but the name was, "Operation Mincemeat". It tells of the greatest ruse employed in warfare and was really well done.

2022 movie.

I'm telling you that the folks at the top, haven't put down a solid foundation for producing the elements of the process. And I never stated that EV's wouldn't ever be profitable. But the process has to be built just like any other endeavor, from the bottom, up. That's organic, and no step can be bypassed in an attempt to get to the end.

I have a background in cost accounting, end-to-end process. And this isn't just "inside" information. I did work for one of the largest automotive corporations in the world, and I was a subject matter expert on process cost; from coke, iron ore, taconite, and all sorts of raw materials, etc., to finished auto parts and completed autos, including assembly costs.

It wasn't my process for turning coke into steel. The steel process have been around for 160 years, and that information is common knowledge, if you learned to search. I was fortunate, in that I learned about steel making, stamping, forging, casting, etc., as part of our manufacturing processes.

But you don't turn coke into steel. You use coke to turn iron into steel. I don't think I want you analyzing my assembly costs!!

Oh, yes they did! The conversion from animal-drawn farm implements to gasoline/diesel to years to accomplish. And it wasn't a leap to gasoline/diesel. There was a long period of time, primarily after the 1861-1865 War, where there was an interim conversion to steam power. Even in the 1940's there were farmers still using horses for work, especially smaller farms.

Profits from farming were, and still are, razor thin on the margins. It was a matter of being able to afford the new technology, and in lieu of jumping onto new, relatively unproven technology, they remained with "tried and true". Also, keep in mind that the supporting infrastructure for gas/diesel took years to develop.

The period after the 1861-1865 war is totally irrelevant since there was not gasoline farm equipment available then. The first gasoline powered tractor wasn't even invented until 1907. And there are still people using horses for farming and t***sportation today but that doesn't mean they couldn't convert if they wanted to. My point is that those who wanted to convert could afford to. By 1922 a tractor could be purchased for less than $400 and while that wasn't as inexpensive as it sounds today, most farmers can and did afford them. In the early 1920's there were over 200,000 of them in use. By 1940 it was over 1,000,000.

To your original point - The end-to-end cost elements of EV's, including the passive energy wanted to power them, has been given short shrift by anyone who's hyped them.

Right now, the entire EV and passive energy systems are given massive subsidies, percentage wise, far in excess than what oil companies receive. Tax credits are provided to those who buy EV's, and the solar and wind energy systems are not even remotely profitable, now, or in the future. As an aside here, I received a solicitation from my utility to pay $1.50/month extra to subsidize the conversion to passive. Their customer base is 2.2 million customers.

Windmills are subsidized to the point where the costing to create a retail price is a mere fantasy. In fact, one cost element, the cost to help convert coke to steel, is completely ignored, as are the huge electrical requirements for the furnaces needed to make iron. And those furnaces have to be run 24-7. Spent windmill vanes can't be recycled. Currently, they are hidden in the west where they sit with no future except occupying space. Spent solar panels have so many toxic chemicals in their manufacture, that they can't be recycled, nor can they be put in landfills.

This great leap to EV's and passage energy have the biggest flaw in inventive history. The solutions are not organic. They've originated in the minds in those in power. As such, there's no real buy-in by those at the bottom, where successful ideas are born, reared, and mature.

????? So you are telling me that the richest person in the world is invested in a company that makes a product that is not profitable and never will be. You seem to have a lot of inside information (or is it non-information) about everything that is trying to improve our environment. And while we're at it, I would like to know your process for turning coke into steel.

Another problem.. If you are going to visit a friend or family with no charging station nearby, are you going to ask if you can charge your car from their power?

When I visit a friend or family now, I gas up my car at a gas station. I don't drive to their house and ask if I can syphon gas from their car. I will do the same when I have an electric car.

That would be a good trick since I do believe the Clarity is a Honda, not a Toyota.

With the right technology and geographical circumstance, yes. Wind and solar can charge batteries, run homes, or provide energy to separate oxygen and hydrogen from water.

Any time I hear objections to new technologies, they are usually instigated by those vested in current ones, and propagated by unwitting public who agree with them out of fear. Objections are good, though, because they sharpen the focus of those who must overcome them.

A wise mentor of mine once told me never to let my view of possibility be clouded by current reality or current assumptions and conditions. Don't be trapped in your current paradigm (status quo).

50 years ago, digital imaging was unheard of outside of research labs. Kodak showed the world how to do it, but then bet on film.
40 years ago, the Apple II was five. The IBM PC was a year old. The Mac hadn't been born yet. Yet we all have multiple computers of various sorts in our lives, now.
30 years ago, Toyota started talking about building what would become the Prius. It launched a whole range hybrid vehicles.
15 years ago, Steve Jobs introduced the iPhone. Microsoft's Steve Ballmer laughed at it. Now most everyone has a smartphone.

I'm old enough to have watched the development of digital imaging, personal computers, hybrid cars, and smartphones from concepts to market successes. All I can say about the journey to clean energy is that it will take time, enormous efforts and financial investments, competitive spirit, a can-do attitude, and probably some governmental attention. But if we limit ourselves to silver halide film, rotary dial land line phones, slide rules, and V8 engines running on leaded gas, we are i***ts.

John Kennedy "threw his hat over the wall" when he spoke about going to the moon and back safely by 1970. It was an outrageous goal, but Americans got it done. I'm confident there are still enough dreamer-doers in the backrooms to develop clean energy solutions into commercially viable and successful realities.

The oil and gas company shills troll social media sites and their lobbyists buy themselves politicians. But that's a short term stall until their technologies are defeated.
